Hi

Ok please can you do the following

1) click Start>Control Panel>System>Device manager
2)Click on the little plus next to sound video and game controllers
3) can you tell me what it says underneath there and if there are any items with a exclamation mark in a yellow circle or a red cross anywhere

Ok

Please can you try the following

1) Power down the PC
2) Power it on and there try pressing the F2, del or esc to enter the BIOS menu
3) Navigate your way through the Bios Menus until you see something like onboard audio or stereo please ensure it says enabled next to it, if it is disabled please enable it
4) restart PC and please advise what occurs

I have tried this several times. On the BIOS menu I do not see anything refering to onboard audio or stereo. The laptop did have sound when first purchased.

Hi,

Please click here to download the BIOS from HP website, then click on Download. Then install it and restart the computer. Then click here to download and install the sound driver again from HP website. Then look on your laptop's keyboard for the Volume Up icon key, press it a few times (you may need to press the Volume Up key at the same time with the Fn key). If sound still does not work, please click here to try the automatic sound fix from Microsoft website.

If that still does not work, the sound hardware is bad as it is not even detected by the computer. There is an alternative. You can buy the USB sound adapter for only about $10 to get sound. You can buy it from your local computer store, or click here to buy online from Google Shopping.

I still do not have sound and am completely unsatisfied with the efforts to resolve this

After trying all my suggestions and it did not work, then your laptop's sound card is bad. Sorry it's hardware issue. But you can just purchase a USB sound adapter for only about $10 to get sound again.

Thanks,
