Outlook is unable to connect to incoming (POP3) email server 0x80042108

My internet provider had a fire in the data room and there was an outage as a result. My internet connection is back up (obviously), but my email will not send or receive. I rang my provider and they said it would reset itself if I turned my modem off for an hour. This has not worked. Online information about the above error indicates that my microsoft outlook files may have been damaged?

There is a test settings button. I used it and it says the specified server was found but there was no response from the server. Please verify that the port and SSL information is correct. It says it found the outgoing mail server OK. It says it did not find the incoming mail server. It says it could not log on to the incoming mail server.

change the incoming to: pop.uqconnect.net

I changed the incoming address to pop.uqconnect.net and then immediately pressed the test settings button. Got the same error messages the specified server was found but there was no response from the server. Please verify that the port and SSL information is correct.

i just send a test email and it sent out OK. but not receiving

getting the message that the server is not on the network now as my error message as I changed the incoming mail address to pop.uqconnect.net

change it back to mail.uqconnect.net and be sure the port is 995 for incoming and "This server requires" is checked.

changed the incoming mail address back to mail.uqconnect.net and pressed the send button - still getting the same error message with the server requires encrypted connection checked. will try changing the incoming port to 995

Also, go to 'Outgoing Server' tab

the top line says my outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and the box is unchecked. the rest of it is greyed out and not accessible

Also select 'use the same setting as my incoming server'

Click Ok and try testing.

Customer :

This server requires and encrypted connection' on the edit mail accounts more advanced tab is not checked and my email account is sending ok.

when i check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' the rest becomes live and it shows a dot against the use same settings as my incoming mail server

Try using 110 port for incoming server

Find incoming mail server (POP3). Outlook could not connect to the incoming mail server (POP3). The problem could be the server name or port, or your server may not support SSL. Verify your port and SSL settings. This is the second error message.

I have one username and password XXXXX my uqconnect account which operates four email addresses. The port for the other 3 email addresses for receiving appears to be set to 110. the port for my main email address appears to be 995. You asked me to change it to 110, but this did not work, it is back as 995 now
