I asked how do I stop American Megatrends from popping up at the startup of my computer? And I did what you told me to do and I cleared everthing but Norton 360. Shutdown for 1/2 hour or longer then restarted and it still pops up at the beginning of my startup.
Optional Information: Computer OS: Windows Vista Browser: Other Already Tried: I went to internet options clicked the privacy tab and then sites and added www.ami.com to the website to be blocked then shutdown the computer 15mins <> and american megatrends appears again
Hi,
Are you telling it is your homepage in Internet Explorer?
When I first turn on the computer. Then when I shutdown the computer the second time my desktop appears. But MSN is my homepage.
1. Have you installed any software related to that earlier?
2. Since when this occurring?
3. What are the messages/options in that AMI screen?
The only thing I've installed were games. The problem started last Friday June 18 after I did a virus scan Thursday Nite I went to bed and when I started my computer that was the first thing I saw. I can't remember all it says but it a black full wide screen with options F1-F12 and F12 I think is to reboot but none of these buttons seem to work so that when I Alt, Control, Delete and restart and then my desktop appears.
Click on start(left bottom of the screen) >
Type System Restore in search >
Hit enter.
In system restore choose a date when everything was running fine >
Continue with the restore process >
Computer will restart after a restore.
Note: You will not loose any data or information during a restoration process.
See if that helps, else let me know for further help.
No that didn't help but, when I restart the computer I'm ok, when I shutdown the computer the american megatrends website is back.
When did you restored to?
I restored to Thursday 6/24/2010 Both

Sorry, but you have to restore it to much earlier date, say some date in may would be fine. This is because the problem started in June 18th. Do this and let me know, if that works. Thanks.
