Toshiba laptop Vista OS gives error upon start up "A disk read error occurred'. We don't have installation disc to repair. What fix can I download?

Hello, this could be a faulty hard drive. You can try this...

 

 

-----------------------------------------------VISTA REPAIR----------------------------------------------------

 

1) Turn on the computer

2) Start tapping/pressing F8 until you see Advanced Options Menu

3) Select Repair Your Computer and press enter

4) Click Next

5) Click Startup Repair

6) Restart your computer when complete to see if that fixed it.

1) Shut down the computer.


2) Turn on the computer

 

3) Start tapping/pressing F8 until you see Advanced Options Menu

 

NOTE: If that does not come up, try to press and hold 0 and press the power button to turn it on and if that dont bring it up you can try holding the C key down.....

 

4) Select Repair Your Computer


5) Choose your country and click OK


6) On the "System Recovery Options Screen" click "Toshiba Recovery Wizard/Restore Application" which is the last option.


7) Follow the on-screen instructions


8) When prompted, click on "Full Factory Recovery"


9) "Next"


10) Click "Yes"


11) You will notice for a while it seems like nothing is happening, give it some time.


12) After some minutes, recovery will complete and you click "Finish"

Sorry, I cannot click ACCEPT ANSWER...

The listed fixes did not help. When I click F8 upon restarting, it just brings me back to the black screen that reads :

A read disk error occurred
Press Con't + Alt + Del to restart...

I've restarted the computer a number of times - (trying F8 or F12)
F2 gives options and F12 gives options, but I dont see anything in any of the subfolder about 'system restore' or recovery...

Also should mention, I cant turn the computer OFF...stays on.. Guess I have to call Toshiba, because I cant get pass the black screen to find any restore/recovery options..

As I have already told you. The hard drive is faulty and you will need to buy a new hard drive and also call Toshiba to order the Recovery Disc since you failed to create your own unit getting this unit.

 

When it comes to hardware failure you can also try so much and if that doesnt work, replacing the defective parts is the FIX/ANSWER.
