I have a Toshiba Satellite A205-S4577. It won't turn on. I've replaced the power cord and the battery. Could it be the power plug?
Optional Information: Computer OS: Windows VistaBrowser: Firefox Already Tried: New AC adapter and new battery.
Hello, you need to replace the motherboard. This is how I know that its the problem.
1) If it was the memory, it would make beeping nosies but you could still acess the BIOS and etc...
2) If it was the hard drive, you should at least get to the OEM Logo Screen and access the BIOS but everything else will lock up/freeze or just not boot at all...
3) If it was the power supply, the computer would not turn on at all or it would have fried the motherboard if it was the wrong one...
4) If its the motherboard, you will not get nothing at all except for some lights or if you do, you will not be able to do anything and it will shut you down or remain a black screen...
Please contact Toshiba for a replacement if under warranty or to check the price for a replacement.

I agree that it's most likely the motherboard except that the computer simply won't turn on, ie. no lights, no BIOS, no screen, etc. Do you know how hard it is to replace the AC power connector and/or the on/off switch?
For this model, very hard as its built onto the motherboard. I know like with my New Dell Studio XPS, they now have it where the power connector is seperate from the motherboard as well as the audio ports which I love hehe.
Here is a guide that might help you...

Thanks for the advice and the repair link. Please accept the $18 for your time and effort.PS. I just rebuilt 2 laptops and swore I would never do another one. At my age (70 minus a few months) it's too hard to see and handle all the small pieces. From now on its desktops only.Dan Persinger
