I can I deactivate my old iPhone and activate my new iPhone (with the same number)?

Can you tell us what model your old iPhone and new one are?

the old is first generation. new is 3G S.

Ok,

 

In that case would it be possible for you to use your iPhone sim card removal tool ( A straightened paperclip) and remove the Sim from your old unit and place it in the new one using this Youtube video to show you how to remove the cards http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf9oHGzLF_M

 

After the sims have been swapped can you then connect the new phone to your machine running iTunes and let it sync then disconnect it and let me know if it is all working correctly.
