Hello, please try the Vista Startup Repair Option. If that fails and in case you it might, try the System Restore. This is how to do it.

1) Turn on the computer

2) Start pressing/tapping F8 until you get Advanced Options Menu

3) Select Repair Your Computer

4) Click Next

5) Click Startup Repair (OR) System Restore and see what happens.

None of them work, repair did not find any problem , restore point not available
Expert:  Anthony Brewster replied 7 years ago.

Thanks. Then I am afraid you will have to re-install windows all over again or upgrade to Windows 7.

(Dell Windows Vista Recovery from Factory image)

1) Start the computer.

2) As the computer starts, press the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.

3) Press the (Down Arrow) to select Repair Your Computer on the Advanced Boot Options menu, and then press Enter.

4) Specify the language settings that you want, and then click Next.

5) Log in as a user who has administrative credentials, and then click OK.

6) Click Dell Factory Image Restore.

7) In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click Next.

8) Click to select the check box for Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition.

9) Click Next. The computer is restored to the default factory configuration.

10) When the restore operation is completed, click Finish to restart the computer.

If this is not working, you will need the Dell Vista Re-Installation DVD. If you do not have it, call dell or order it online as its FREE and FREE shipping by FedEx.

Sorry, I was away Are you sure that no other option is available than reinstal the program. As you mentionned, if I upgrade to windows 7 do i have to reinstall all my programs.

Expert:  Anthony Brewster replied 7 years ago.

yes I am sure. No, if you upgrade, all of your programs will still be there. If it works on Vista, Microsoft says it will work on Windows 7.

The ONLY other option I can think of with Free Support, it to call Microsoft as they ONLY give Free Support for (Service Packs) issues.

To contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support, telephone

1-800-642-7676

Microsoft Customer Service hours of operation:
Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM - 9:00 PM Pacific Time
Saturday and Sunday, 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM Pacific Time

But Seriously, Windows 7 is by FAR the best OS out they and almost flawless. It runs and has the performance on Windows XP its unreal. Everyone is talking and excited about it so far!

Expert:  Anthony Brewster replied 7 years ago.

Thanks. Then the only thing I can tell you is to reformat the hard drive first, and then re-install windows all over again.

1) Turn on the computer

2) Start tapping F12 to get the Boot Menu Options

3) Put in the Windows Vista OR Windows 7 DVD

4) Select DVD/CD-ROM Drive and Press Enter

5) Select Repair Your Computer (instead of Install Now) bottom left-hand corner

6) Click Next

7) Click Command Prompt

8) Type Format C: (and press enter)

9) Type Y (and press enter)

10) After 100% type exit (and click restart)

Now, do the same process again but only do Install Now.

If you want to try to save your data, call Microsoft first and see what they suggest. Or, get another hard drive for this computer, and take the old one to a local computer shop to get your data off of it.

GOD BLESS!
