If you can connect your 430 to your machine using the parallell to USB adapter you should then be able to open control panel from the Start menu then choose add printer and when it prompts for a driver choose the HP 4L driver and see if it works for you.
The reason you use the 4L driver is that a little known fact is that Canon acually manufactured the LBP430 series and a couple of others for HP to rebadge and sell as their own.
Try that and let meknow if you have any issues
Do you have the HP 6 or HP6P driver available?
If so they should also work, If not let me know if you have an XP disk so I can show you how to get the drivers or give you a link to the driver.
There is no driver for HP 6(6P)
I have XP disk
First can you try the windows 7 version of the HP4 driver from here http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=15042&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=25487
Let me know if it will allow you to install using it or if not we can extract the XP driver from your disk
