I created banners using BannerSnack.com - When I download them

Resolved Question:

I created banners using BannerSnack.com - When I download them they come in SWF format... How do I convert this into an animated gif or jpg? - should I even do this? - these SWF files are 300kb - 900kb is there any way of making them smaller or perhaps streaming them so that they can load as the person is watching the banner?

hello sir,

they are big sized, because they are animations (they are not fixed pictures as JPG)

to be able to use your SWF file, you need to use it in your site like this:

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" width="320" height="240">
<param name="movie" value=http://www.youraddress.com/YOURSWFFILEHERE.SWF>
<param name="quality" value="high">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="True" />
<embed src="11000_0.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="320" height="240" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="True">
</embed>
</object>

by the way, there are programs which convert a SWF file into GIF

you can check this program

http://download.cnet.com/Flash-SWF-to-AVI-GIF-Converter/3000-6676_4-10381365.html

but i don't recommend you to use this kind of programs because quality will decrease.

if you still want to use a GIF or JPG banner, please find ways to create your banner directly in JPG or GIF format. otherwise, as i said, converting them will decrease the quality.

i hope that helps,

if you need to ask questions, or if this does not help for any reason, just hit "reply" and i will be happy to assist your further

Regards

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
so should I leave it in SWF... could it not work on some website that put up my banners? - how long would it take to load. Also the reason I wanted to know about the gif banner's is because if you take a look at this website http://www.therichjerk.com/site/rich_jerk_affiliates and you look at the first banner - it is in gif yet it is still animated. How does that gif become animated?

If I dont convert the banners will they load properly on website that use them to promote my products? or can I be running the risk of people not being able to see them because they dont load or dont load fast enough.

Thanks
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi sir,

sorry for my delay.

in fact, majority of people has flash player in their systems. but there are still users who don't have flash. so they won't be able to view your content (only 10%-15% )

if you make it GIF, it will be better because anyone can view gif files properly.

you have 2 options

1) you can create your banner in SWF, and convert it to GIF.

2) you can "directly" create your banner in GIF (don't you have this option in the site you are using to make your banner ? )

gif will be nicer, because anyone will be able to view GIF. SWF has more quality than gif, but there is a risk that 10%-15% people wont be able to view them.

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
No the only option I have on the website is SWF - I was thinking of maybe making some of them in GIF for lower end sites, because I figure some websites make people install flash to view their content.

Can you recommend where I can make banners in GIF - and also I dont think you answered about the size. Is it still ok? will it load if its that big - is there any way of compressing it or maybe making it stream so it loads faster on the website.

Thanks
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi sir,

i just checked the usage of the latest version of flash (10.0)

it shows that about 95% people have flash in their browsers.

http://www.adobe.com/products/player_census/flashplayer/version_penetration.html

so, i strongly recommend you to use SWF instead of GIF.

GIF will be bigger in size. SWF will be smaller.

in addition, yes, if someone who has no flash views your site, it will see a message like this: YOU DONT HAVE FLASH. TO BE ABLE TO SEE THIS PAGE YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD FLASH. YOU CAN DOWNLOAD IT FROM ETC....

again, SWF will be a better option. size will be smaller. because of the design of the flash mechanism

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Ok great.... but is the size 300kb way to big? some of them are 600kb - like the conversion on them is very high but Im wondering if it will even load. Like because of the size.

My main concern is it not loading properly because of its size. I read online that banners shouldnt be bigger then 40kb... but one of the images I use is 90kb - plus the bannersnack software is 30kb just to start. Im concerned about it not loading quickly enough. Again is there any way to compress or to make the banners stream instead of fully load before they play.

Thanks

P.S - you answer significantly faster than other people I have delt with on the site.
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi sir,

compression may not be a problem. 300 kb is OK. an average person with 2 mbit connection can load it in about 1 second. 600 kb is a little more. but it will take only a few seconds with 2 mbit connection.

can you show me your swf ?

(you can tell me your url)

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
I dont have any that are out of bannersnack yet - how would I compress it?

let me know otherwise youve answered my question so I will accept.

Thank You
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi sir,

unfortunately there is no way to compress it.

in other words, it stays in SWF format and what you create is what other people see.. your only chance is to use "low" sized graphics when you make your banners so the size will be smaller.

again, as i said, 300 kb is not very big for a banner. please check this sample. this is a 300 KB SWF

http://uk.futuroscope.com/swf/visionneuse-laponie-express.swf

you can see the speed of the load.

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Hi,

Sorry I have one last question.... I downloaded one of the banners... uploaded it to my website using FileZilla - but when I go to view it, it isnt sized properly - so then I tried making a .php file where I put in the following

<a href="http://mywebsite.com">
<img src="http://mywebsite.com/banners/Banner1.swf" width="120" height="600">

So I cn view it when I go directly to mywebsite.com/banners/Banner1.swf - but like I said it isnt proportioned properly and some of the pictures that I used in Banner Snack to make the banner stick out from the side (even though bannersnack say that they cut out whatever part of the image isnt used) but nevertheless the banner itself is too big and I dont know how to put it down to size.

Thanks Again (I know this is another question - I will add a bonus, I just didnt wanna ask anyone else)
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi again sir,

sorry for my delay.

what is the "original" width and height of your banner?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
It is 120x600 made in bannersnack.

The code that bannersnack gave me is something like

<img style="visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="http://bannersnack.net/Banners/fasnklan.swf /><object type='application/x-shockwave-flash' data='http://files.bannersnack.net/app/swf/EmbedCanvas.swf?hash_id=4617c2f2f487cd

Thanks

Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hello sir,

thank you,

you need to use your swf file in this way >>>

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" width="600" height="120">

<param name="allowFullScreen" value="True" />

</object>

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Where do I put image source for my banners i.e mywebsite.com/banners/banner1.swf

Also where would I put in the <a href=" for the website that I want to lead into.

Would I also give this code to affiliates - how would they use the code to input the Banner?

Thanks!
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
also for

<param name="movie" value="http://files.bannersnack.net/app/swf/EmbedCanvas.swf?hash_id=4617c2f2f487cd">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="True" />
<embed src="http://files.bannersnack.net/app/swf/EmbedCanvas.swf?hash_id=4617c2f2f487cd" quality="high"

Is there any way of not using bannersnack for this? their server goes down alot... I was wondering if I could download these things onto my server and not use bannersnack for it.

Thanks
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi sir,

upload your swf file anywhere you want in your server (any folder etc)

when done, you need to use the exact coding to display your banner on your site.

if you add this= &clickTag=http:~|~~|~www.google.com

it means that your banner will go to google, when clicked on it.

if you want, we can go step by step.

just upload your banner, tell me your url (path to your banner) and then let me prepare your banner coding.

Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

sir, is this your banner?

http://files.bannersnack.net/app/swf/EmbedCanvas.swf?hash_id=4617c2f2f487cd

when i click on it, all i am seeing is a little arrow turning in infinite loop

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
No thats not my banner.... My banner is on my website... I dont want to type in where my banner is because last time I typed in my website domain into justanswer it was up on google for a month infront of even my website. my banner is on the server in a folder named banners.... so it's www.mywebstite.com/banners/banner1.swf (again this isnt actually where my banner is I just dont want to put in my actual site)

But again my concern is having to download

<param name="movie" value="http://files.bannersnack.net/app/swf/EmbedCanvas.swf?hash_id=4617c2f2f487cd">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="True" />
<embed src="http://files.bannersnack.net/app/swf/EmbedCanvas.swf?hash_id=4617c2f2f487cd" quality="high"

Bannersnack is very slow and sometimes does not respond at all so Im worried that it wont load the banners.

Again I'm not sure as to where to place the <a href=".

Thanks
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hello,

can you type your banner address into a TXT file.

and upload it to:

www.rapidshare.com

after upload, it will give you a url. just tell me that url, so i can download the txt file, and then i can see your banner address.

let me prepare your banner coding, including the link.

when i am done with it, i will do the same (upload to rapidshare. and give the url to you)

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Hi,

I figured out the initial coding you gave me... it works.... the only thing that doesnt work is &clickTag=http:~|~~|~www.google.com .... where do I place it? if i put it between brackets it shows up beside my banner and wont allow me to click on it. My banner now looks exactly like this.... I just dont know where to put the click here.

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" width="600" height="120">
<param name="movie" value="http://files.bannersnack.net/app/swf/EmbedCanvas.swf?hash_id=4617c2f2f487cd">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="True" />
<embed src="http://files.bannersnack.net/app/swf/EmbedCanvas.swf?hash_id=4617c2f2f487cd" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="600" height="120" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="True">
</embed>
</object>

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Ok so this is what I did, but it didnt work

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" width="600" height="120">
<param name="movie" value="http://files.bannersnack.net/app/swf/EmbedCanvas.swf?hash_id=4617c2f2f487cd&clickTag=http:~|~~|~www.google.com">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="True" />
<embed src="http://files.bannersnack.net/app/swf/EmbedCanvas.swf?hash_id=4617c2f2f487cd" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="600" height="120" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="True">
</embed>
</object>

I also did it on the bottom one for embed src= and then I did it in both but it doesnt allow me to click. When I put it only in param name= it works but if I out in embed src= or both embed src= and param name= nothing shows up at all.

Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi sir

i just noticed that you put your link when you click on publish button.

can you check this picture

graphic

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Yes that it correct... but that only works if bannersnack hosts the banner for you... I download them and then upload them to my server so that link doesnt work. Not to mention affiliates need to be able to change the click tag url to include their affiliate tracking ID.
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

oh, sorry to say that, we need to find another banner making site

because we are unable to give a swf file a link "directly"

the link mechanism is "stored" in the swf file. in other words, it is the swf file itself which stores the HREF inside.

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
So what your saying is that all the banners I made are pretty much garbage because they are swf? What kind of file do I need to be using? Is there any way of going around it - can affiliates download the banner and change the link inside.
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

yes,

you cannot change the link inside a swf.

you need to determine which link will be used "during design mode"

in other words, you cannot change the link of a swf, after it is created.

currently, when you click on your banner, where does it go?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
What if i convert the file from swf to flv or somekind of flash video file?

Is there anything I can do here?

Can I use a converting program or do I need to make all new banners... and if I do what program should I use where I can use flash and have the pictures change but at the same time be able to change the clicktag.
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

currently, when you click on your banner, where does it go?

we can alter the link inside.

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
it doesnt go anywhere... I dont think there is an embedded link on the file.
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.
is your banner animated? or fixed?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
animated... Im downloading a new banner right now with the embeded google.com clicktag... go to efbb.org - it will redirect to the page where tha banner is.
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi,

did you create it? is it clickable now ?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Hi,

Yes I did it so it goes on google, visit efbb.org and the banners are there
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi sir

i checked the swf file but it is not clickable ?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Hi,

Check again... the link was incorrect.

Thanks
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hello sir,

i checked it now. yes, this swf is clickable. that goes to google.

will you be able to change the link to your desired link?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
I was hoping you would help me out on how to do that... it doesnt seem to work for me.
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi sir,

i was able to change the link. you just need to change the cliktag section.

for example, i changed the link to YAHOO

plese check below code

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Hi

The code you gave me didnt work... I figured out how to change the codes in them myself.... I need to use an embed code generator - one is available on banner snack. Can you please go to http://www.bannersnack.com/blog/clicktag-swf-embed-code-generator ... Could you make that code generator in html (just copy it exactly but only leave the ClickTag Url empty so that affiliates can make their own - leave everything else exactly the same). I can do it myself but it would take a long time - Im not that computer literate.

Ill give you an extra $20 - I really dont think it should be all that much work and it would really help me out if you did it.

Thanks In Advance

Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi sir

sorry for my deay.

can you tell me the exact swf url to be used in the embed code.

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Oh no I don't need an embed code... I know the code... I was hoping you could copy the actual code generator itself exactly the same way - except instead of ClickTag Field being automatically set to bannersnack.com - just have that field left blank.

Thanks
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi sir,oh yes,

do you want me to create a code generator? yes, i can do it.

please give me a few minutes. i will inform you when finished.

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Thank You!
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Can you also tell me exactly how to implement it on my pages. Like whether I should write in the code with html or how I should place it on my website... And if possible how to alter it myself (if that even possible).
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi sir,

done,

i created a codegen.htm for you. it is zipped. please download it from

http://tinyurl.com/yg5oxka

and unzip it (extract the htm file from it)

if you have trouble, please let me know.

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Hi,

Sorry its a little different than I thought. Could you please make the exact same one as http://www.bannersnack.com/blog/clicktag-swf-embed-code-generator - I really like the way it looks and also it has the swf source file box - which affiliates need.

Can you copy that one exactly and just take out the fact that bannersnack is the default website and just leave it as blank so that affiliates can generate their code exactly the same way as on that website - You can also download that generator and use it - The only thing I need is for banner snack not to be there.

On another note - do you make website? - I'm going to be needing a website done for one of my companies in about 2 months and I was looking for some new people for it.

Thanks!
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Also is it possible to get it in html or something where I can edit it myself as well.

Thanks.
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi again sir,

i am sorry for my delay.

sorry to say that we cannot make changes on the SWF file directly because SWF is a closed source program (compressed)

since it is not an open source, we cannot edit texts on it.

since i am not a programmer, i won't be able to create a flash content swf. however i can do it in html but it will be in plain, but it won't be the same. (due to restrictions in html)

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay - I had an emergency meeting. Yes Could you please make it in Html - basically the same concept as that swf file but plain is fine - as long as its a small box (similar looking) - with all the same functions - doesnt have to be the same just whatever can be done in Html without too mcuh work.

Thank you

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Hi,

Just wondering if you were still going to do it? or should I just accept the answer?

Thanks
Expert:  Jerry Hannell replied 4 years ago.

hi sir,

sorry for my delay.

it is ready
