HP Photosmart C6180, All-in-One. Error: 0xc18a0501
Optional Information: Computer OS: Windows XPBrowser: IE Already Tried: Powering off printer, removing cartriges (which change the error message).
hello Thanks for your question. Follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem. Switch off and disconnect the printer from power supply. Also disconnect any other units (PC etc) to it. Leave the printer disconnected for 30 minutes. It should do a soft reset itself, then restart it.restart your computer in safe mode and do a restore. The instructions on how to restart in safe mode are given at this link.http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml System restore process restores your computer to a previous date.. So if you didnt have this problem few days ago this should solve the problem.. System restore can be undone if needed. Its advisable to first backup the files. To restore the system to a previous date follow these steps. For XP: Go to START then ALL PROGRAMS then ACCESSORIES then SYSTEM TOOLS then SYSTEM RESTORE then restore my computer to an earlier date. For VISTA: This link has the instructions on how to restore.http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/you can call hp at
I don't think I need to (or want to) do a system restore of my computer to an earlier date (the printer is not even hooked up to a computer and I'm getting this message).
Also, the printer has been powered off (and unplugged) for several hours (and same message comes back).
but Thank you in any event.
try that 30 minute reset.. and if that doesnt help then its a firmware error..upgrade the firmware by connecting to computer..
