My son has a samsung notebook and it wont turn on. It gets as far as the user icon to log in then it says logging off. What could be the matter with it? Any ideas how I can repair the problem? Many thanks

Thanks! Lets try a system restore.

 

1) Turn on the computer
2) Keep tapping F8 until you see advanced options menu
3) Use arrow keys to select safemode with networking and press enter
4) Press enter for os/xp
5) Choose admin account (not yours)
6) Click yes to continue in safemode

 

Now, do this...

 

1) Click Start

2) Click All Programs

3) Click Accessories

4) Click System Tools

5) Click System Restore

 

Now, please go back to a date when everythingn was working ok but not yesterday to be safe. Go back like 2-4days or something.

Hi thanks for your reply.

I got as far as step 5, clicked the administrator icon, it briefly says loading settings and then almost straight away says saving settings and will not allow me any further. I can't get past the welcome screen, I can't even get as far as the start menu.

See if you can get the task manager up

 

CTRL+ALT+DEL and if you get your task manager up, click on File, type explorer.exe and press enter and that should force the desktop up.

Im afraid CTRL+ALT+DEL will not open task manager
