I KEEP GETTING AN INTERNET SECURITY WARNING POP-UP.THE SERVER YOU ARE CONNECTED TO IS USING A SECURITY CERTIFICATE. THTARGET PRINCIPAL NAME ISXXXXX: XXXXX XXXXX BY AOL MEMBER CA. VALID FROM 3/19/2009 TO 3/19/2011. I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT COMPUTERS. I JUST WANT TO GET RID OF THIS WARNING MESSAGE. I'M USING WINDOWS XP. THANK YOU.

In your email program, please check your server setting:

AOL Incoming Mail Server (IMAP) - imap.aol.com (port 143)
AOL Outgoing Mail Server - smtp.aol.com or use your local ISP

HOW DO I CHECK A SEVER SETTING? I DON'T KNOW WHAT A LOCAL ISP IS!
It's okay what email program are you using?

Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook?

In these programs you to:

Tools
Accounts or Email Account's
Settings
Server Tab

Then it will say what you have for your incoming or outgoing email server settings and it will say something about SSL make sure that's not checked.

I'M USING MICROSOFT OUTLOOK. UNDER ACCOUNT SETTINGS I HAVE TABS FOR E-MAIL (TYPE: POP/SMTP MY DEFAULT ACCOUNT IS COMCAST.NET BUT AOL.COM IS ALSO SHOWN, DATA FILES: HAVE ARCHIVE & PERSONAL FOLDERS (DEFAULT). RSS FEEDS = BLANK, SHAREPOINT LISTS = BLANK, INTERNET CALENDARS = BLANK, PUBLISHED CALENDARS = BLANK, ADDRESS BOOKS = OUTLOOK ADDRESS BOOK TYPE MAPI. I CAN'T FIND A SERVER TAB. MY PHONE NUMBER IS XXXXX OR CAN I CALL YOU?
Sorry, I can't call you or you can't call me, basically we can only troubleshoot on here. It sounds like your SSL settings aren't correct. Basically if you don't have the SSL setting in your server settings or under advanced. You would need to delete the account by going to Tools, Accounts, Highlight your account and click remove, Then start over from fresh, basically go to Tool's again then Add an email account. When doing this don't check "SSL or Requires Authentication".

THANK YOU TRAVIS FOR PUTTING UP WITH A REAL DUMMY. ONE LAST QUESTION. DO I DELETE ALL ACCOUNTS: TWO AOL.COM ACCOUNTS AND ONE COMCAST.NET OR JUST THE AOL ACCOUNTS?
If you only use one, I would basically delete everything(that way you don't have the same problem) then I would basically add the email account with all the correct settings, it will ask for display name, email address, username, password, server settings. Then you should be good to go.
