I bought the Microsoft Office 2007 today, but I am having difficulties installing it. There was a message that said that the programs had been reconfigured, but I could not get any further after that. I was not asked for the product key, so I have obviously done something wrong. I hope that you can help me.
Already Tried: I am on a very limited budget and I asked for the cheapest answer! I just tried to reconfigure it again. I have no idea what I should do next.
Hi,
Can you tell us what operating system is on your computer?
Thanks
Oh dear - I really don't know. On my computer there is a label saying Windows Vista and another which says AMD Turion64. Does this help?
Ok,
That tells me you are running windows Vista which is what I needed to know.
First thing can you remove the cd from your machine and restart your machine by clicking start then shut down, Once it is powered off can you wait 10 seconds then turn it back on and let it load back to your desktop.
Next can you Insert the Microsoft Office into the drve an wait 30 seconds and see if the Setup Wizard opens, I fit does not can you click Start, then type D:\setup.exe into the search box and click enter then let me know if it asks for your Product key.
Eric
Sorry this has taken so long - I couldn't get back to you. Anyway, I closed my laptop, then started it again. I inserted the Microsoft Office again and, once again, it asked whether I wanted to run the software. I clicked on Yes and the MSO reconfigured AGAIN. Nothing else happened. I did type in the D:\setup.exe, but I was then just sent to other sites. Hence my problem with finding you.
Did you have any other versions of Office on this machine?
There is a trial version, but I have never used it.
Can you download and install the Mocrosoft Installer Cleanup utliity from here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 once installed can you open it from the Start, Programs menu and use it to remove anything that says Microsoft Office nd once finished can you remove the disk, reboot your machine and try to install again.
Let me know what happens.
What has happened? Nothing! Am I supposed to go to Quick Play or anywhere else?
Did you install then run the Installer cleanup utility?
If so did you get all instances of Office removed?
I think I removed it all.
Ok
In that case remove the office disk then reboot your machine and once restarted try putting the disk back in and see if it will now let you install.
I already tried that to no effect.
Did the setup not start?
Did setup run and give yo an error, or did it reconfigure?
It reconfigured.
Can you right click the Start button then choose Explore.
Next browse to your CD drive and find the setup file for office.
Right click on setup and choose Run As Administrator.
