Hello,

This issue may occur when deceptive software such as spyware or unauthorized adware is installed on your computer. This kind of software may come bundled with software that you want to install or may be included with downloaded Web components.

Microsoft Windows Defender can remove the deceptive software program. For more information about Windows Defender, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx Some non-Microsoft tools exist that may be able to remove the deceptive software program. Some of the companies that provide spyware or unauthorized adware removal programs include the following companies:
Ad-Aware

For more information about Ad-Aware, visit the following Lavasoft Web site:
http://www.lavasoft.com
eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware

For more information about eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware Corporate Edition and CA Customer Online Store , visit the following Web site:
http://www3.ca.com/solutions/Product.aspx?ID=5222
Spybot Search and Destroy

For more information, visit the following Spybot Web site:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

You can also try to do a scan using other antivirus. Try doing it in the safe mode.

Hope this solves your problem.

Hello,

So are you able to load web pages that is access internet on other browsers?

And did you do a scan?

Regards
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Yes, if I pull up my AOL, I can get to other pages. I have run all the scans I have including the microsoft ones with Window Defender, etc.

Hello,

Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and install any Critical Updates
offered. If "Root Certificates" update is listed in the Optional Updates
category, you might install it, too, to take full advantage of IE7's
additional security.

Try using Mozilla Firefox. It's some arbitrary dumbed down IE setting...MS tends to just disable stuff instead of fixing the inherent nature of potential security risks.

Rather Mozilla Firefox is much better than IE.

The only other thing you can try is press F8 during start up and select the last know good configuration.

If that still does not work the I suggest you use Mozilla Firefox.

Hope this solves your problem.

Hello,

Run this free online scan (more virus oriented) from Panda.
http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/solutions/?

When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to the desktop, then copy/paste into the text editor and post it after you run Ewido.
(More spyware oriented)Download Ewido Security Suite (http://www.avg.com/download-trial) then set it up this way Ewido Setup Instructions (http://rstones12.geekstogo.com/ewidosetup.htm) reboot into Safe Mode and run Ewido

When the scan has completed, Ewido will create a report.txt file. Click the "Save Report" button on the bottom of the screen and save the log to your desktop in case you need it later.
Please reboot into normal mode and post the Ewido log and the Panda log.

Go to start>control panel>add/remove programs>scroll dow the list and look for an entry like or similar to:
istbar
and remove it if found.

Your system is definitely infected with virus.
It is necessary to get rid of them soon.
