Customer Question

Hello. Thank you for your help and advice. This may be a very elementary issue but I can not seem to work it out. I have Word 2007 and have written a resume with it. Sometimes people can not open it and so I save it as a 97-2003 version. However, my husband who is in another town this year can not open the resume at all on his computer. He does not have Word apparently. He is not adept at the computer. He gets the message "unable to load graphics conversion filter." I have tried saving it as 2007 and also as 97-2003. I suggested he make sure he has an Adobe reader download but I am not sure if this is the cause of his problem. What would be the answer to this; and what would you advice regarding sending my resume off to prospective employers where I do not have the embarrassing problem of their being unable to open it. Thank you so much for your advice. Sincerely, XXXXX XXXXXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX

I need to be able to send my resume as attachment in E-mails where prospective employers will not have trouble opening it. I have Word 2007, can easily save as Word 97-2003; but still some people have trouble opening. What is causing this and what can I do to overcome the problem. Thank you for your help. XXXXX

Hi Mary Rose,

Thank you for the question. First, I would still recommend using MS Word 2003 format to potential future employers. I would continue to save in MS Word 2003 format for a while. If someone has MS Word 2003, they can still open a document in MS Word 2007 format, but will need the 2007 compatibility pack from Microsoft. The download link is here:

If your husband does not have MS Word, he can download the MS Word 2003 viewer from Microsoft, however will not be able to edit anything in the document, only view.

Please let me know if you have additional questions and I will be happy to assist. Thank you!
