how do I stop yahoo home page popping up every time i am on my own home page and as soon as i start to type up it comes

When you say that the yahoo page pops up every time you are on "your home page"...
do you mean:

1) every time you open a new browser window yahoo loads in it...

2) or that you actually get a webpage (pictures and/or text) homepage loaded in your browser and then it change to yahoo?

if the latter (#2) is what you mean... what webpage do you ahve set as your home page?

respond to me with your NEED INFO button not the ACCEPT button (that will keep this question open.

Reply to Glenn F's Post: tiscali home page just first time i go on line for that day yahoo home page comes up as soon as i start to type and i have to press back to get rid of it then its ok until next time i go on line the next day
Expert:  Glenn F replied 7 years ago.
it sounds like your browser may have yahoo set as the homepage default and the setting is set to load it when you connect.

This is assuming you are using internet explorer for your browser... tell me if you use a different browser...

open interenet explorer... go to the TOOLS menu, Select INTERNET OPTIONS... in the GENERAL tab (which should be the open on you see first... there should be a line for a web address that says Home Page.

if what I suspect is happening is true... then you probably will see the yahoo address there in the address line.

click the USE BLANK button. it will remove the yahoo reference and put an "about:blank" in there... then hit the UPDATE button at the bottom of that dialog box window and then the OK button.

the next time you open explorer and connect to the internet it will not default to yahoo.

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
hi there glenn my home page tiscali comes up ok its not until i start to type any thing that yahoo home page comes up i checked what your reply said and thats all ok charlie...
Expert:  Glenn F replied 7 years ago.
Where is it you are typing?
in the URL address line? or in a form field in the Tiscali page (like the yahoo or google search box on the tiscalli page)?

also... what are you typing?

I guess I am confused at what you are saying.

If you type something in the URL address line and hit enter or return key, Internet Explorer... if it does not recognize what you typed as a legit webpage address will go to the default search engine (which in your case MIGHT BE Yahoo?) and show you search results based on what you typed.

if it jumps to yahoo wthout you hitting the return or enter key... then I am not sure what the issue is... but, is that what you are doing?

have you looked at the yahoo results page to see if they are search results related to what you were typing? or is it just the yahoo hompage?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
it jumps to yahoo wthout me hitting the return or enter key, dose not matter what i type, google search box on the tiscalli home page
or URL address line
Expert:  Glenn F replied 7 years ago.
Go to your homepage settings and look to see what exact address you have in your hompage setting...

is it set to this:

http://www.tiscali.com

or to this:
http://www.tiscali.co.uk

or something else?

send me the EXACT address of the tiscali site your hompage prefecence is set to.
That first generic address has javascript code to jump to some other sites that are affiliated with tiscali and maybe that is causing it.

secondly... what version of Internet explorer are you using.

and also... if you don't type... and just let it load the tiscali page and let it sit... will it jump to yahoo by itself, or does it only do it when you start typing?

Please send me responses to each of those bolded questions.

Glenn

http://www.tiscali.co.uk
microsoft internet explorer pc is one year old
it will jump to yahoo by itself
thanks charlie...
Expert:  Glenn F replied 7 years ago.
Try going to your prefrences... and enter for your homepage... http://www.google.com

set it. quit your browser... then reopen it and see if when it opens... if it stays on google.com or if it jumps to yahoo.com like it does now with the tiscali site set as your home page.

This will tell us if it is something on the
tiscali site, or if it is somthing on your computer or on your browser.

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
no still going to yahoo
charlie...
Expert:  Glenn F replied 7 years ago.
ok... then it has to be something on your computer or in your browser that is doing it.

You might have some kind of spyware or a virus attached to your browser that is causing this.

go download Adaware
from http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

install and run it and see what it finds. you should be able to clean out the spyware and restart and try your browser again.

hopefully that will get rid of the problem.

(sorry this took as long as it had so far)
