Is this a question of arithmetic, semantics, or just aCustomer
Expert:  Christopher Valk replied 11 years ago.

P1 owes \$90, P1 pays \$70 so he still owes \$20, he took out another loan for \$80 so now he owes \$100, but then he pays \$100, whats does that equal?

His debt is \$0.

If you think about the fact that he is "GIVING" money, he would either owe \$170 or \$90 but if the money he is giving goes towards his loan he would owe \$0.
Expert:  Christopher Valk replied 11 years ago.
My final answer is: P1 owes \$90
Customer: replied 11 years ago.
Reply to xarqi's Post: It's a financial question. Seeing how after P.1 owed P.2. \$90. paid \$70. Then, later asked P.2. to give back what was paid earlier so debt of \$90. could be paid with a \$100. bill. So, P.2 handed P.1. \$80. & took the \$100. bill. My thought is that P.2. gave \$10. more than necessary. Am I right?

Here are the numbers you gave me:

90-70= 20 | 20+80=100 | 100-100= 0

So how can you come to the conclusion that Person one gave \$10 more when the numbers don't say so? Or did you give me the wrong numbers?

Expert:  xarqi replied 11 years ago.
No,Customer that is not right. As at least 4 people have tried
to tell you now, the balance is zero.
Expert:  K McMillion replied 11 years ago.
if this is going by semantics then the answer would be \$90 otherwise it would be 0 - I agree with the other posts

Or may be there is an interest that we are not aware of....hmm....
