Customer Question

I have an icon that keeps coming back to my computer hard drive even when I delete it. It is the microsoft logo with the top right corner page bent and the title is just the symbol "~". There are no quotations just the symbol. I have had my computer reformated and it still just keeps coming back. When I open it there seems to be jumbled information from my address book. Does anyone know what this is and if it is a problem? I am networked with another computer and it has ended up there too. Thanks.

Do you have a Spyware Scanner?

Reply to Yosemite Sam's Post: I do have updated virus scanning software and I have Spybot - Search and Destroy. The icon keeps re-appearing every few days to a week. I run my virus protection on it and is says there are no viruses. My Spybot has fun when it is on my hard drive and it does not identify it as anything. I guess it's probably nothing.

It sounds to me like it is a program that you keep using. The broken
page means that it was a picture it couldnt open, so meaning the icon
picture it cant find or open. Right click on the icon and see if you
can see the properties of that icon and it should tell you what program
it is. If it is a program that you can uninstall thru add/remove
programs then i would uninstall it then reinstall the program or you
can go to the program and have it add  a new icon for your
desktop, usually by clicking on the program name and (right click) and
have it "send to " desktop.

Another way to easily help that, is think of when it wasnt like that,
maybe a week ago and go to "restore" and it will let you restore your
windows back to a certain date, before that started to happen.
Sometimes that fixes problems with windows also.
