Internet Connection Wizard

I've been trying to set up a new internet connection on my brothers computer using the Internet Connection Wizard. He is currently running Windows 98SE. When I click on setup to launch the wizard I get the following message "Failed to load the Internet Connection Wizard helper component".  I've reinstalled Windows 98SE but this does not correct the problem. Would this "helper component" have been installed with Windows 98? Now because I'm running Windows98SE, I can't use the Windows 98 version CD. What should I do next? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried to set up it up manually? What is wrong with the previous connection?

Let us know if you are installing dial up or cable.

My brother doesn't have an internet connection at this time.  I brought his computer home with me and I'm trying to connect him through my dial up connection. I recently installed a CD-RW drive in his computer and I need to go to the micro advantage website and download some drivers needed for the CD-RW.    I have set up the connection manually.  I think??  I hear the modum dialing the number but it never connects.  It just kind of hangs there.  I'm pretty sure the Internet Connection Wizard doesn't have anything to do with this modum problem but I need to fix this wizard so that when he does reconnect with a ISP he will be able to set up that new connection.    Thanks again,

Are you using a pay as you go package (such as 2cent p/min) or monthly (e.g. $10 p/mon).

    Are you dialling through the registered line? Who's
your ISP? Do you require any special software? Do you have a firewall

Reply to Paul's Post: Yes, I am dialing through the registered line.  I have a monthly package through Progressive Internet Service.  No software needed.  No firewall.

 Yes, I know what setting it up manually means?  I have set it up manually that's how I'm able to connect. I solved the problem of being able to connect. My problem is the Internet Connection Wizard.  It is missing a "helper componet".  I need to know where I can get this componet.  I'm just trying to correct the internet connection wizard problem.  I don't have a CD from my ISP.  I can't find anyone that has had this problem and I just want to fix it.  Thanks again
