I have a WP site and am having trouble getting the pic

Customer Question

Hi - I have a WP site and am having trouble getting the pic attachments not to have a page indexed in google. I use All in one SEO (recently changed to it). My issue with Yoast was it indexed like Games to play online - name of site.... it's now indexing how I want but the attachments (pics) are having pages made for them.

Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

I would try putting all the attached images into a subfolder of their own, e.g.

http://www.sitename.com/pics/

instead of putting the pictures or images or photos into

http://www.sitename.com/

and then putting a

robots.txt

file into the /pics/ folder along with the images/pictures/photo files, with the path

http://www.sitename.com/pics/

in it. See http://www.robotstxt.org/orig.html

for more information on how to block indexing for a part of your website, using a robots.txt file in the right subdirectory.
