double linked list means that each node stores a reference to the next element as well as the previous element.I have code examples of both i will post them right now

Yes, I am familiar with doubly linked lists (especially in C/C++ with dynamic memory allocation). The source and example implementation that I sent you did include nodes that reference both the next and previous nodes.I will take a look at the code you linked above and see how it fits in.
