I have an ASUS K501 laptop that is not connecting to any wifi network. It connects, but I see an exclamation point saying "no internet, secured"
JA: Have you tried unplugging your router for about ten seconds? And what about other devices? Do they have connectivity?
Customer: I tried both and my other devices are connected to network and working
JA: What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: Nothing, I turned on my computer and it was like that. It was working today until now.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I tried restarting my computer and enabling and disabling wifi
JA: Anything else you want the network expert to know before I connect you?

  • If the laptop can't connect to any Wi-Fi, the most common reason is the laptop is not DHCP enabled, which means it does not obtain IP address offered on the connected wireless network.

If it is a Windows computer, you may go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings > Your wireless adapter > Properties > Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), make sure below settings are selected:

  • Obtain an IP address automatically
  • Obtain DNS server address automatically

If it is other operating system, please advise.
