Customer Question

I would like to connect my Mac to my TimeCapsule using an Ethernet cable. My Mac tells me the "Cable Unplugged" when it clearly isn't. I am also using the TimeCapsule as a wireless router connected directly to the cable modem.
JA: How much experience do you have with this particular machine?
Customer: Quite a bit. I have had my Mac connected via Ethernet for years. Recently I started to get this error message of "Cable Unplugged". I suspect it has to do with an Os X upgrade. I currently use El Capitan Version 10.11.06
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: Yes. As recently as today.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: The "Assist me..." tab under Network on the System Preferences screen.
JA: Anything else you want the Mac expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No

May I know the model, generation and version of your TimeCapsule?

Why do you want to connect it by ethernet if it is already connected to your network? It actually is your network...

If you are using the Time Capsule as your WIFI router you do not have to connect it directly to your computer, it is already on your network and can be accessed that way.
