I have Charter cable but cannot get a decent wifi signal

Customer Question

I have Charter cable but cannot get a decent wifi signal throughout my house. You have to be close to the router to even get do Mbps. So, I bought several extenders and hooked them up in 3 areas. It made things worse. How do I solve this problem?
JA: How long has this been going on?
Customer: Since the service was installed, about 1 1/2 months ago. I bought my own modem, and now wonder if I got the wrong kind.
JA: How much experience do you have with this particular machine?
Customer: Virtually none.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Just rebooting and trying different combinations of extenders. Seems like the more I add the worse it gets.
JA: The network expert can solve this for you. Anything else you want him to know before I connect you two?
Customer: No. Thank you.

Hello, I’m Nathan, and I’ll be assisting you today.

Sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with this but I’ll do my best to help you out.

What is the make/model of the modem (and router if you have one)?
Do you have any devices that are hardwired (ethernet)?
