No that's not necessary. Has the orientation moved on the router? There are antennas inside the unit and they can affect the signal if it is turned.

Under Router Settings, click Connectivity. Click the Basic tab. Under Firmware Update, click Check for Updates. If an available update is found, follow the on-screen instructions to install it.

Ok try these things listed below:

Go to the Wireless > Basic Wireless Settings tab on the web-based setup page. Change the Channel to 1, 6 or 11 then, click Save Settings.

Go to the Administration > Management tab on the web-based setup page. Look for the Upnp section and select Disabled. Click Save Settings

If there is any interference from another router, you'll probably need to change the channel.

I think the initial page is the Basic settings. See if the Channel selection is there.

Yes. If you are getting interference on that channel, you'll want both changed.

You might try different channels to see which one gives you better signal.

I think you're is one of two things:

1. There is an interfering signal that has been introduced and is causing your signal to be weaker in that part of the house. This might not be related to something that you've introduced but possibly from a neighbor with a new wireless device on the same channel, or;

2. One of the internal antennas on the device has become defective. You can test this by changing it's orientation and seeing if it helps your signal issue.
