I have an HP tower with Windows 7 and a Toshiba Satellite

Customer Question

I have an HP tower with Windows 7 and a Toshiba Satellite 305-S5955 with Vista.
Can Windows 10 be downloaded into both units and is it cost free at this time?

Hi my name is ***** ***** I can assist. The Windows 7 HP Tower can still be upgraded for free to Windows 10 up to July 29, 2016. You can use this site, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/help-upgrade-windows-10, to help with scheduling the upgrade. There is also a link there to create media to install it manually.

The Windows Vista PC does not support the free upgrade although there is a loophole in upgrading it to Windows 10. This site explains how to do it but Microsoft may have shut this process down.

This process is not supported or condoned by Microsoft so they will not help you.

The Vista laptop may not have the resources to run Windows 10 either. You might have to upgrade the hardware before upgrading.

Here are the prerequisites for upgrading.

I would probably refrain from upgrading the Vista laptop as it is not supported but is possible.
