Expert:  Kamil Anwar replied 10 months ago.

remove ALL power supply and network cables and let sit for 30 min, router and broadband.

start with broadband modem ONLY and wait
after all the light is up on modem, hook up the router and see

This did not solve the problem
Expert:  Kamil Anwar replied 10 months ago.

Did you turn off the router for 30 mins? what are the lights status on the router?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
This process is difficult because I am operating my computer directly from my modem.
I am having to disconnect to try the various remedies.
I will hook the router back in and then take it out so that I can communicate with you.
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
The internet light fast flickering and the power light is doing a slow blink.
Expert:  Kamil Anwar replied 10 months ago.

If the Power or Diag LED (Light Emitting Diode) on your Linksys router is blinking, it means the firmware is corrupted.

Press and hold the Reset button of your router for 30 seconds.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Which button? There is a green botton right above the blinking light and a red button to the bottom.
Expert:  Kamil Anwar replied 10 months ago.

The reset button is a small button located on the back or bottom of the router. You will need to use a pin hole to reset the router. see here

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Should the router be on or off when I press the reset button?
Expert:  Kamil Anwar replied 10 months ago.

the router should be on

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
This did not help
Expert:  Kamil Anwar replied 10 months ago.

what did it do after the reset? was the power light still flashing?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
There is no change in the lights.
Expert:  Kamil Anwar replied 10 months ago.

It seems like the firmware corruption has proceeded to the memory level - but i'll opt out to see if other experts have any ideas.
