Hi,

I'm sorry about the issue. Is this a brand new router?

What username and password ***** you try?

Please reply at the box below. Thank you.

Is it asking for the Asus router's username and password? Or is it asking for your Internet username and password?

Expert:  Viet - Network Tech replied 1 year ago.

It looks like you are not there. Let me provide some possible solutions you can try when you are available.

- Have you tried with the default username admin and password admin?

- If that does not work, with the Asus router powered on and connected to the computer, press the tiny Reset button located at the back of the Asus router for about 10 seconds

; please click on the website below for the location of the router's reset button:

, then go to the website below:

http://192.168.1.1

; (or website http://router.asus.com/)

, and if prompted, enter admin for username and enter admin for password

, then follow the router setup instructions there.

; if needed, please see more details at

https://www.asus.com/ae-en/support/FAQ/1005263/

, and/or at

http://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1005485/

Note: If it asks for your Internet username and password, please check with your Internet service provider.

When you are available, please reply at the box below to continue troubleshooting. Thank you.

Hi Viet
I'm using the Router Setup Wizard for an AVUS RT-AC66R and when I get to the second screen, it asks for username and pass phrase. It doesn't say which (Router or. Internet ) I tried using the defaults admin & admin but no luck. This is my 2 nd attempt to install this router; I got further the first time. I don't remember my user name and password ***** that attempt. So, I uninstalled everything concerning the ASUS router and am trying again.
I'm here; I just didn't expect an answer back so soon. I'll try the solutions you gave in your answer and get back to you. Thank you.

You're welcome. OK. If needed, if possible, you can take a screenshoot of that screen, and let me know, thank you.

Viet, I can't access some of the web sites you mentioned. I'm getting the message - "The network
cable is not hooked up. I checked and double checked. The network cable is hooked up and securely pushed into the sockets. At the bottom of this message it tells me to go to the setup page and tells me that I will need account and password ***** administrator.

What's the model of your Internet modem?

Disconnect power cord from the modem for a couple of minutes, then re-connect, and try again.

- Did you connect all modem, router, computer devices as shown in the image at the website below:

http://kmpic.asus.com/images/2013/12/02/bd232b8c-6650-4848-a542-ebe5fa835934.jpg

, then push & hold the reset button at the back of the router for about 10 seconds

; (reset button location http://i.imgur.com/w3K8IYS.jpg)

, then wait a few minutes

, then on that computer, what happens when you click on the website below:

http://192.168.1.1

; (or website http://router.asus.com/)

, what does it show?

Please let me know. Thank you.
