Customer Question

I have a netgear WGR614 v.8 wireless router and cannot connect my treadmill's WiFI. requirements for the treadmill's WiFi is a 802.11b/g/n which I think my router meets, but every time I try to connect the two I get a "Disconnected" response on my treadmill. Any help would be appreciated.

a/g/n should cover it, whats the model # ***** the router?

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

and the treadmill for that matter.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
router is Netgear WGR 614 v.8, the treadmill is a Freemotion 860 model no. SFTL 15513.3
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

ok

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

Can you tell me how you tried to pair it? did you use wps?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
On the treadmill screen it searches for available WIFI signals. I then selected our home network and it tries to connect, but response comes back as disabled.
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

doesnt ask for a password?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Never gets to that step of asking for a password
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

the treadmill only supports B

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

and requires a An iFit.com membership

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

the treadmill doesnet even see your routher does it?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
OK. but to activate the iFit.com membership , which I can do from the treadmill if I get connected. it sees the router cause it brings up our SSID name
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

right

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Does it mean I need to upgrade my router?
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

hold one a second man.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

Robert, give me a few i want to make sure i give you accurate info.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Correct brand , but different model. my model is STFL15513.3
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

how about this one

http://www.amazon.com/FreeMotion-SFTL15513-860-Treadmill/dp/B00JVGNYQ6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1452278033&sr=8-1&keywords=Freemotion+860

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
that looks like it. Freemotion 860 interactive
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

i'm trying to find an accurate manual, they dom't seem to have much on these things ontheir site.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

from what i can see, that treadmill has no wireless capability.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

your router does G only.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
It does according to the manual that it came with. does that make a difference? The G only
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

I believe you. G only should be fine if the treadmilsupports it. Thethings treadmills usually support are TV's and act as remote controls for TVs/Stereos.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

I have not found any treadmills they make reference actual internet wifi

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

IS it refering to ifit by anychance?

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

that machine does pair with the ifit braclet over wireless G.....but not to a router.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
It should. No mention of having to have an iFIT bracelet. It has a wireless network mode. It brings up all types of networks but just wont connect with mine.
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

Ok, it all kind of makes sense. The treadmill connects to the ifit bracelet, and that bracelet connects to the wireless router.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

really odd, can't find a single note on that.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

Does it see your network? If so what does it do after that?

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

i'll have to try and walk you through it since there is no decent documentation

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

Would you mind doing this on the phone so we can work together and try and get this working?

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

i'm out of options on this side since the manufacturer does not have a manual available for that specific mode, and not much is online.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
There is no mention in the manual anywhere about having to have an iFIT bracelet. It should connect to a wireless system cause it even recognizes my wireless printers WiFi. After I select my SSID and it asks to connect, I touch the connect tab and the treadmill screen comes back as saying the SSID is disabled.
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

perhaps yiur SSID is off on your router.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
there is a network icon with a lock on it.
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

i believe you that it has wifil.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

i'm just not able to find documentation. If it says it needs a SSID, there is a chance its off on the router.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
How do I find that out?
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

We need to log into the router unfortunately

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

Do you have the Admin password ***** the router? Not the same as the wifi password.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Can you assist with that? I have my router up on my computer.
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

I can remote in and assist, but i would need the password ***** the router.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

unless someone left it defualt, in which case i could get in.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

There is obviously a lot of things I Can't see here from Colorado.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

Do you want me to try and do a remote session and see what i can gather?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I am in the Netgear router wizard.
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

ok, well find out rather or not SSID is turned on or off.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Wireless AP is on and broadcast name is on
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

the menues are different for most of the different versions, i don't know by heart where you need to go. And that wizzard only gives you some options, we usually log into the web interface

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

Ok, that sounds like SSID

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

SSID is just the brodcast name of the router.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
the SSID broadcast name is BIGFISH
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

the treadmil should be able to see that name then,

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
It does.
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

you indicated it did not.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

so after that select it, and it should ask for a password.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I do. but for some reason the treadmill doesn't ask me for the password.
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

That doesn't make sense obviously.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Again. there is a network icon with a lock on it after the BIGFISH
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

it doesnt say anything about WPS does it?

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

what strikes be is that there are ZERO references to this treadmill being connected to a router

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

If i were standing there, i could def take a look - obviously. I know a lot about nwtworking and such, treadmills not so much. But it doesn't seem like many people are hooking this thing up to a a router. If there was a WPS option, that would make more sense,

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

This pretty much sounds like a problem with the treadmill.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

Would you like to talk to another expert than I? Probably going to get the same questions/answers

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I'm thinking the treadmill Wifi signal isn't working. Especially when the signal keeps repeating the connecting, disconnected, scanning cycle.
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

that's possible.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Its like the treadmill either isn't sending a signal or doesn't receive a signal back.
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

Like i said Robert, i'm not an expert on work out equipment

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

AND from searching around, very few people us that feature, so who knows how reliable it is.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Ok I will try to get ahold of the treadmill repair service line. Thanks.
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

If it was used a search of the model name and "wifi" would surly bring up one page./

ok. just frustrating since the treadmill is brand spanking new!
Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

i understand. Treadmills are not usually set up to do so. I did the best i could. Please do leave a rating so i am compensated, thanks.

Expert:  Tim replied 10 months ago.

And feel free to come back after to the same question.
