Customer Question

we are having problems with our cordless phones since installing the netgear ex6200. The phones continue ringing even after going to voicemail. THere is also a noticeable delay in getting the dial tone and the call connecting.

Hi, and welcome.

To resolve this issue you will need to log into the main wireless router and adjust the wireless channel that it is currently operating on. Once you make that change, make the same change on the wireless range extender and test the phones again.

The problem occurs due to interferance and only by adjusting the channels will you find a setup with the least interference.

the repeater is set for 2.5 and 5.0 GHz - those are the only options. all of the phones are either 5.8 or 6.0+ GHzI don't understand why there would be interference since they seem spread enough?
Expert:  A. Stevens replied 1 year ago.

Okay, do you currently have any devices that connect to the 5 ghz network? Do you want to try and disable that wireless radio and test?

Expert:  A. Stevens replied 1 year ago.

The 5 ghz range can be from 5.1 to 5.9 so there could be some interfernce.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
there are no powered devices connected to the 5 hgz network
Expert:  A. Stevens replied 1 year ago.

Ok great can you log into the extender and disable the five gigahertz Channel?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok - i'll have to figure out how. the device automatically connects using all bands available on the router - which is 2.5 and 5.0 (via the WPS button)
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
also, i disconnected the repeater and we seem to have the same problem?
Expert:  A. Stevens replied 1 year ago.

Okay, so even when you disconnect the repeater the problem is still there?

Expert:  A. Stevens replied 1 year ago.

Ok thanks. Let me check.

Expert:  A. Stevens replied 1 year ago.

Before you setup the extender did you have WPS enabled?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
WPA2-PSK security was setup when it was installed (2 years ago). I never used the WPS button before setting up the router this past weekend
Expert:  A. Stevens replied 1 year ago.

Okay, thanks. Checking to see if there is another way to set that repeater up.

JasonI am currently at work, and will only be home after 6PM. At this point I have disconnected the Netgear extender, and reset the router to fix the telephone problem. However, I do need to get the extender working since Roku and the smart TV streaming does not work without it.Mark
