Hello,
I am Pete, and I'll be happy to assist with your question today.
You can download the installation guide here:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/routers/891-integrated-services-router-isr/model.html#~tab-documents
Let me know if it still is not working and I can find an alternative source for you.
If you are experiencing any specific problems or errors, please let me know.

Hi Pete,

I came here looking for specific guidance. You are sending me to the Cisco site which I had already mentioned did not prove to be helpful. You gave me a link to go search for documents, which is what I have done for nearly 4 days! I need more specific help.

I have a router which is going to replace an old Linksys router. I need it configured for DHCP and cannot find good directions to get the router started. The cisco CP program is not giving me access to configure the router. I need help to get initial port setup.

Thanks.

Hello I am James I know cisco quite well. I can help you
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Thanks.

I have a Cisco 891FW router which has scant details on getting initial setup done. I have looked at Cisco documentation and cannot find anything specific about this router. I have downloaded the Cisco CP Professional and even that does not give me options to configure the router. I maybe using it wrong.

Basically, I want to replace a linksys home router in a small office setup. The router should be configured for DHCP and port forwarding. It will connect to a T1 modem and then distribute addresses to the network. How can I configure ports for this? I am comfortable using the CLI, but can also use the GUI if available.

Thanks.

ok first lets enable the gui. do you have the console cable that should have been provided?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Yes. I have it connected. I'm using Putty to connect.

ok let me get you the commands one swe(config)#ip http server(config)#ip http authentication local(config)#username changeme privilege 15 secret 0 cisco(config)#wri
Expert:  James Dwyer replied 1 year ago.
then open cmd and type ipconfig /all the default gateway should be the gui so enter that IP in a browser address window
Expert:  James Dwyer replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

ok continue with my dirs I sent
Expert:  James Dwyer replied 1 year ago.
you should hit the GUI of the router with the gateway address in the browser
Expert:  James Dwyer replied 1 year ago.
did you get there?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

ipconfig gave me 169.254.9.27 255.255.0.0 and the page does not load.

Expert:  James Dwyer replied 1 year ago.
a 169 address is no good.its an internal "fake" ip power cycle the router and check the ip again
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

it came back up with same IP.

Expert:  James Dwyer replied 1 year ago.
ok gimme a sec to find a quick fix
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

you have an incoming gigabit incoming from the TI point of demarcation?
Expert:  James Dwyer replied 1 year ago.
and I assume your provider has given you at least 1 static IP
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Right now I am testing in home office. I have a PC hooked up to gigabithernet0

Expert:  James Dwyer replied 1 year ago.
well for it to properly do dhcp the WAN needs to be set up first
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

ok. Is it ok to pick up tomorrow? I have two morning meetings.

You could send me the steps and I can try them and send an update.
