Customer Question

Why is my UDP outbound failing? I have disabled firewall, attempted to port forward and I am using HMA VPN
Testing UDP outbound
Test failed: Outbound test failed
Testing TCP port 31185 inbound
Test failed: NAT test failed: Connection timed out (204.45.246.231:31185)
Check your port forwarding for TCP 31185

Hi there, i'll be happy to assist. I think i know what the issue is, HMA (Hide my Ass) only supports TCP as of now, they do not allow UDP on their side, its blocked. For what reason they do this, i do not know. Their FAQ says if you need UDP, try another client.
From their site "When connecting to HMA Pro VPN using OpenVPN protocol, all connections are made through TCP protocol.
But there's a way to use UDP protocol instead, resulting in faster speeds and it's bypassing many restrictions for other protocols; like when you cannot connect at certain locations using PPTP or usual OpenVPN.
Since UDP protocol is not yet integrated into the HMA Pro VPN client, you'll have to use our alternative clients for Windows and Mac."
They suggest Viscosity as an alternative client that will work with HMA

I hope this answers your question, and sorry for the issues, but as is with HMA client, you can not use UDP, you must use another client with that service.
Regards,
Tim

Bummer man, I'm not sure that really fixes my issue. I'll look into this viscosity program and report back..

Yeah sorry about that, but it did help answer your question regarding HMA correct?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
My concern is resolving the UDP outbound connection. HMA is just a component I'm using.

Then its all about another client i guess.
I hope i was at least helpful -=]
