Sure what is required. I will log out of all other programs. To start I lost my internet on the weekend which was IE8, downloaded IE10 and then had network problems. My IT has confirmed the issue is with the server as we can network off of the secondary to a laptop.

Are both systems plugged into the same switch/router?
This is a little baffling - the server can connect to the workstation but not the other way around

Would you be ok with me trying to uninstall (or you can) avast from the server? Something is blocking the connection and firewall/security software is always the first to rule out.

Ok, so it turns out it was Avast. Uninstalled Avast and it seems to connect just fine from the workstation.
