sorry, neither worked. tried re entering PW for wi-fi, failed again. Should I try Xfinity tech support again; they just had me reboot the router 2 different times, did not help?
OK. I may try going to an area with another wi-fi network and see if the
Kindle works - brand new, maybe a bug.

Tried wi-fi at McDonalds and was able to get a result, so the problem must still be with Xfinity. Their check of my line seemed to find everything OK.
