Hello and thank you for using JustAnswer.

LKT :

How do you normally connect to your office network? Do you use any sort of VPN? Are you getting any errors?

Customer:

usually i can connect automatically through wifi on my laptop

LKT :

Oh I see. You are having a problem connecting via wifi.

LKT :

When your laptop searches for wifi connections does it show the office network?

Customer:

yes. i have a "limited" connection

Customer:

yes, it shows and connects, but it is limited and doesn't give me internet access or access to files on the network (or network printers, etc.).

LKT :

I see, is anyone else in the office having this problem, or is it just your laptop?

Customer:

just my laptop. i tried to connect to my home network, a public network (starbucks)... both connect fine.

Customer:

so it's just my laptop with just this network.

LKT :

Can I also have you turn the wifi off and on, on your laptop, you may have a switch on the side or a FN+F2.

LKT :

What model is your laptop?

Customer:

ok - just did that. it's a dell XPS 12

LKT :

Is it trying to reconnect?

Customer:

okay - so i have internet again. the turning off and on did it...!

LKT :

Good to hear!

Customer:

i tried so many complex fixes, like ipconfig stuff.

LKT :

:) I always start simple and work up. I learned that from many failures.

Customer:

and the fix was super simple! however, i didn't know about F2. this computer doesn't have an on-off switch for wifi so i didn't know there was a function like that.

Customer:

looks like i'm good to go.

LKT :

Ah yeah, each laptop is different

LKT :

Alrighty.Have a good day!
