How do you normally connect to your office network? Do you use any sort of VPN? Are you getting any errors?

yes. i have a "limited" connection
yes, it shows and connects, but it is limited and doesn't give me internet access or access to files on the network (or network printers, etc.).
I see, is anyone else in the office having this problem, or is it just your laptop?
just my laptop. i tried to connect to my home network, a public network (starbucks)... both connect fine.
so it's just my laptop with just this network.
Can I also have you turn the wifi off and on, on your laptop, you may have a switch on the side or a FN+F2.
What model is your laptop?
ok - just did that. it's a dell XPS 12

i tried so many complex fixes, like ipconfig stuff.
:) I always start simple and work up. I learned that from many failures.
and the fix was super simple! however, i didn't know about F2. this computer doesn't have an on-off switch for wifi so i didn't know there was a function like that.
looks like i'm good to go.
