thanks - did you get my last? don't think so. i have now tried all of the above. still same thing. it looks like the wifi is connnected because it has a bolt icon and wireless signal showing 2 bars. if i wait for about 5 minutes whilst nothign is happening and then press the home button i get 'setup incomplete' msg with 'continue' 'more wifi settings' or start over' options. frustrating!

Hi Tried that. Says not connected to Internet. Therefore I have found 'settings' and confirmed wifi is on. I can see my network (Netgear) and the wireless icon has 2 bars highlighted - is this relevlant?

No. Usually my son also has trouble connecting to wifi here. He's OK at his home, unfortunately he's not here so can't recheck. Is there anything else I can check with. My Kindle connects OK - maybe not relevant!
