Vizio TV M420KD, internet connection issue.I am connected

Vizio TV M420KD, internet connection issue.

I am connected to my Linksys befw11s4

when i go to the apps, then Yahoo connected to tv store, I can see all apps, and download them, but once installed, each time i open the app, i get the loading icon and then network error.
the only thin that worked was skype.
what needs to be done?

i tried disabling the wifi security, but that didnt help

on the webvideos, it does initializing...then loading... and then doesnt move

on vuduhd, straight away it says unable to connect to the network

on rapsody, same thing...network error

yahoo weather, "connection unavailable"

have you tried to change the wireless channel?

yes, it was on 2 i put in on 3

ok - have you any way of connecting the TV directly to the router to see if that works correctly?

i was able to register the tv by amazon. i can do a search for titles,

but never able to load a video

the other thing that may be an issue is that it seems to be struggling with more of the intensive appsa

and Vizio recommend an 802.11n wireless connection

whereas the Linksys BEFW11s4 is an 802.11b router

I dont have a network cable that long, that will be my next test, but would love it to work without cables

the network cable will be a perfect test

if things work correctly with a long cable

then that would indicate that an 802.11n router will also work wirelessly

as it would appear to be speed/performance related

in other words i would need to buy another router

finally connected through ethernet, but still the same issue

I just did a reset memory to factory settings

Customer:

i am going through the setup progress, it detected the network cable connection and mentioned 'connected' now its scanning the cable tv channels

Customer:

once pressing the V button, it was updating and installing apps

Customer:

going to the first app, Yahoo News, top stories, it says 'connection unavailable'

Customer:

next is twitter: was able to sign in and see my tweets

i called Vizio support

Customer:

after going through the settings, they say my internet connection is too slow, that it can never work

Customer:

I am at 1Mbps they say I need at least 3Mbps

Customer:

i cannot believe that this is the issue

I can't specifically see why a 1Mbps would not access the services

Thanks - a couple of thoughts. If you log in to the Linksys router what firmware is currently installed?

Just to check if speed is any kind of factor, is the issue the same with all other devices turned off?

I still can't believe why it doesn't work on the tv. I mean, I can connect all my devices since years on this router without an issue.


 


There's got to be something. Going with the ethernet cable exclude the idea of a N router.


 


I am also wondering when doing a connection test on the tv what it is actually doing.

Thanks - yes, I would agree that having used an Ethernet cable that should overcome any wireless speed requirements.

Did Vizio attempt to reset the TV to factory settings?
