Hi, I will assist with this issue.

Please check at the left, right, and front sides of your laptop to see if there is a wireless button/switch/light to turn on/off the wireless; also check at the top of the keyboard if needed. If it does not work, or if there is no wireless switch, please press at the same time the two keys Fn and the wireless icon key (which is located at one of the function keys from F1 to F12) to turn on/off the wireless.

If that does not work:

What's the brand and model of your computer?

You can right-click on Computer or My computer, then click on Properties, then it will tell if you have windows xp, vista, or 7.

Please reply. Thank you

The only switch is the button on my computer above the keyboard in the upper right. When pressed it only switches between off and disabled. I think I need to reinstall a driver but not sure where or how to?

Can you click on Start, then right-click on Computer, then click on Properties, then check if your System type: is 32-bit or 64-bit?

Can you click on Start, then right-click on Computer, then click on Manage, then click on Device manager, then open/expand Network adapters (click on the + plus sign in front of it), then tell me the item(s) under it?

Also, let me know if there is any problematic/yellow item in Device Manager.

Thank you,

The driver is installed already.

So when you press the wireless button above the keyboard on the right to turn on the wireless, then click on the wireless icon (the hp wireless assistant icon) at the bottom right of the laptop's screen, does it see any wireless network name?

What's the brand/model of your wireless router? Thank you
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Does another laptop or wireless device work fine with wireless?

Check the hp wireless assistant icon or from Start, All programs, HP, etc...

Thank you

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Yes the one I'm on right now through iPad
Expert:  Viet - Network Tech replied 4 years ago.

Please try this first: click Start->All programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore and restore the computer to any date before this issue has occurred, then check?

If needed, check the hp wireless assistant program/ icon or from Start, All programs, HP, etc...

Computer is brand new, first time tried to access wireless at home.
Expert:  Viet - Network Tech replied 4 years ago.
Sorry, if you go to Settings, Wi-Fi on the iPad, does it see your neighbor's wireless also?

Thank you
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Sorry lost connection. I need to go now.

I appreciate your help but the problem has not been fixed. How does this work. I put in $68 for the service. I want to pay something for your time, but not the full $68 as the problem has not been fixed and I need to go now.

Expert:  Viet - Network Tech replied 4 years ago.
Sorry, don't worry, we guarantee our service. You can come back any time to continue.

Since this is a new laptop, let's reset it: turn off the laptop, then turn it back on, then press the key F11 when the computer logo (or the first thing) appears on the screen in order to do a factory restore.

Please try when you have time. Thank you
