I just purchased a trendnet TEW658BRM wireless router I have lost the instalation cd I am unable to connect to the wireless router my S/N is C212065800179 Please help
Greetings.I can assist you with this. Router's actually have an internal control interface (no CD required). Its a bit tricky for a novice so I'm going to recommend we do a remote desktop connection that will allow me to temporarily connect to your machine and setup your wireless. There is no additional charge for this and we'll be in contact the entire time.Be sure that you are plugged directly into one of the LAN ports (there are typically 4 of them on the back of the router, side by side) with an ethernet cable to the router with the computer you're currently on, and let me know when ready and I will post instructions to make the remote connection.
Hi Justin I'm not sure if you received my last reply but when I connect the trendnet router I can't connect to the internet so I'm not sure how you can help me remotely
That's not typical behavior, and no, I did not receive your last reply. Here's what I need to continue further:1) Your ISP (internet provider). For example, comcast/att/roadrunner etc.2) The version of Windows you're running (xp, vista, 7)
My ISP is currently TelOne in Zimbabwe and I am using Windows 7
I'm not entirely familiar with it. Is that DSL or cable?I've pulled up the specs on the modem/router (trendnet) and it appears to be a DSL router. TEW658BRM is the model # X grabbed. So I guess my next question would be, how are you connecting to the net period, unless TelOne supplied you with a modem as well.
Yes they did but it is not wireless It is a CELLPipe 7130 residential gateway router. When I connect the Trendnet, The router and the laptop appear to be connected because it shows an excellent signal strength. The way I see it, the problem appears to be between the router and the telephone line it seem's not to see the phone. However it does work with their router the cellpipe
Its likely because it needs the login credentials.I can guide you on how to access the interface of the trendnet, but you may need your ISP's assistance in getting the correct username/location on it, if its running PPPOE.First and foremost, you might as well start from scratch with the trendnet by bringing it back to factory settings. Press and hold the reset button on the back of the trendnet for 15 seconds while its on.This will factory reset. Wait for 30 seconds. Now, to access the internal interface after this. Plug your computer into the back of one of the ethernet lan ports. Then navigate to this address in Internet Explorer.http://192.168.10.1Once in, you'll be prompted for a username and password. The username is admin, then password XX XXXX blank/nothingThis will bring you to the control Interface of the router. You're welcome to test if you can get an Internet Connection with the factory stock settings, and from that juncture all you'd have to do is set the wireless back up. But I have a feeling you're going to need the ISP's information to pass the credentials necessary for DSL.If you click this link:http://www.trendnet.com/downloads/list_subcategory.asp?SUBTYPE_ID=1457&SUBMIT=GoThere's a quick installation guide (PDF) that can be downloaded that will shed further insight on the interface and repeat the steps I gave about to get into the web interface. The user guide is also located directly below that.Let me know how far you get or if you need me to clarify further. Remote would be ideal of course, but as you said, without a connection to the router to the net I can't configure the wireless.Keep me posted, I will check back asap.
