Suddenly not getting an internet connection. Have Linksys connected to DSL Westell 7900 Gateway. If I connect directly to the Westell I can get internet connection, but Linksys does not work either directly or wireless. Linksys has green power light, green internet light, green WLAN light. Light to left with Cisco is lit orange. Any suggestions? Thank You
Computer OS: Windows XP
Powered off DSL Gateway and then Linksys Router. Waited for about ten seconds. Then powered back on DSL Gateway and then Linksys.
Can connect directly via CAT5 to Westell for internet connection. However, cannot get internet if connecting directly to Linksys.
It has been working for about a year and suddenly quit working
Hello Pat, Thanks for your question. Reset the Linksys router to factory defaults
To do this, press and hold the Reset button located at the back of the router for 30 seconds.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that the Power LED of the router is blinking when you press the Reset button. This indicates that the router is being reset properly.
After pressing the Reset button, unplug and re-plug the router’s power adapter.

I have a problem with just pushing the reset button and not having the settings of the router. This router also serves as a connection point for a Hawking WiFi Signal Booster in the back of the house. This was set up for me by my nephew over a year ago and he is no longer physically near my house. I have some notes he left. The set up of my network is as follows: Phone Jack >> Westell 7500 >> Linksys >> Hawking. If I push the reset on the Linksys will I lose any settings that connect the network. The Westell Gateway has a Class A ip address and the Linksys and Hawking have a Class C ip address.
The Hawking booster settings should be okay, however there are no more options on the Linksys.
I can see it. Let me see if I can get into the router first and write down the settings.

Sorry for delay. I thought I was on the Linksys site and then realized it was JustAnswers. I have no problem paying $24 if this can be fixed but I definitely don't want to make it even worse than it is now.
No problem. I can route you to the Linksys site if you would like and submit a refund for this session. I am Linksys certified, however if you prefer I can get you to the Linksys site, just let me know...
Okay. I found my notes ip is 192.168.10.1 and I found the log in information. Give me a few minutes to print the configuration before I do the reset. Work for you??
Yes, sounds good. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Went through the reset (power button was flashing when holding reset button for about 30 seconds). Pulled power cord and plugged back in. Power button continuing to flash green for the last few minutes or more but still do not see the router when looking for available wireless networks. Also can no longer connect to 192.168.10.1 nor 192.168.1.1
Did you try connecting with ethernet cable?
no, but will give it a try
Did you get my response after I tried connecting with ethernet cable?
No. I am sorry, I did not.
Do not get ip address from Linksys either wireless or with ethernet cable. Power light is still blinking. Can only get ip address and internet with ethernet cable to Westell. When viewing available wireless do not see linksys. Also can no longer connect to Linksys via 192.168.10.1 or 192.168.1.1
Can we make an appointment to continue this in about five hours? Taking a little longer than I thought.
Yes. You can reply back here whenever you are ready.
Thanks !! I'll reply back around 8 am est
That will be good.
I'm back. Still same issue: power light still flashing green on the linksys, cannot connect to linksys, etc. Thanks !
Okay, pleas try this. Connect the router to the modem and power of modem and then router. Then power both on.
I had already done that. I called linksys tech support about 9 am and they went through a few steps and advised that the unit needs replaced. I will buy a new one and hope to have it sometime tonight. If I have a problem getting it connected (fortunately I was able to print out the configuration of the old one before I did the reset and then could not connect so I have that info), can I "Reply to Expert" as long as I do not do the "Rate to Finish" this ticket. Thank You !
Yes, you can reply anytime.
Thank you for your assistance. Do feel you spent more time than I would have expected but there are two factors that went into my okay rating. First was that as I mentioned to you, at first I thought Just Answers was a part of the Linksys/Cisco web site which was what influenced me to click on it and agree to pay for the services. The second factor was the recommendation to reset the router without first attempting to print out the configuration as I had indicated it did not have a default setting due to range extender. Fortunately I did print out configuration prior to do a reset as after the reset was no longer to access the router. I was then able to use the configuration to configure the replacement router
