I have a problem with my internet. The internet router is providing a signal to my ipad, iphone and laptop, however, data cannot be received. The devices are receiving the internet signal, but data is being blocked. How do you go about fixing this problem?
Optional Information: Computer OS: Mac OS X Browser: Chrome Already Tried: I have tried rebooting the router.
Hi,When did the router stop working?Do you mean the router is not working with any device at all?Are you connecting the modem (without router) to the computer right now in order to use the Internet? What's the brand and model of the modem? What's the brand and model of the router? Who's your Internet service provider? Have you tried to reset the router (press & hold the reset button on the back/bottom of the router for about 10 seconds), and check? What's the status of all the router's lights? Please let me know. Thank you,
The router stopped working at 8:00 pm last night Tokyo time. The router is not working with any device, although the devices show that it is picking up the signal. My apartment is completely wireless with a secured router. I don't have the brand name of the router, and I believe the provider is NTT Telecommunications. The routers lights are all on and flashing. I have not tried the reset button, but have unplugged the router and replugged it and nothing changes.
You can check at the back/bottom of the router for the exact brand/model.Can you reset the router: make sure the router has power, then use a paper clip to press & hold the tiny reset hole/button located on the back/bottom of the router for 10 seconds. Then wait a few minutes, then connect to the wireless network named without any password XXXXX check? If needed, can you use the router software cd disk to re-set up the router?Thank you,
The computer is not picking up our router signal but picking up other signals. We've tried the other signals and not able to open an search engine. I don't think I have the cd disk to reset the router.
Can you just reset the router with my previous suggestion (no need the cd disk)? Thanks,
We did insert the paper clip and rebooted the router. We can't find our wireless network on the list of available networks now.
Can you check at the back/bottom of the router for the exact brand/model?Do you see a default wireless network name? Thank you,
The exact name isXXXXX Hi-Power Air Station. We can find our network number on the laptop, and it does show that it is picking up the signal but can not get any data.
So you connect the modem and computer to the router, and the internet does not work. Can you reconnect the modem and computer to the router (with 2 Ethernet/network cables), then on that same computer, log in the router page at http://192.168.11.1, then enter root as the User name and leave the password XXXXX blank to log in, then run the Internet setup there. Please let me know. Thank you,
As I am working from my office and have my son at home trying to fix the problem, I am going to have to try this when I get back home. I can send him this as he won't be able to pick up his emails.
No problem, please take your time. Also, when setting up the Internet, it may require entering your Internet account username and password (if you don't remember this info, you may have to call your Internet service provider.)
Please let me know if there is still any issue. You can always get back to me via this web page. Thank you.

My son mentioned to me that when he was playing X-Box Live yesterday, someone got upset at him and threatened to screw up his internet. Is this possible for someone to block the internet from the X-Box. Would this be the root of the problem?
No, it should not be possible as long as you have a secure network, i.e., set password XXXXX the router's wireless network name. Besides, the Internet is working fine with the modem, so there is nothing wrong with your Internet; the issue is with the router; we need to reconfigure it. Thank you,
Thank you. That is good to know. The network is a secure network also.
You're welcome. OK, thank you.
I was able to get the internet working. How do I go about setting the security for it?
Great. With the router connected, please log in the router page again at http://192.168.11.1, then enter root as the User name and leave the password XXXXX blank to log in, then look around for the wireless /network / security, etc., and enable security (use WPA... if possible), and enter a passphrase/key, then save, and check. Please reply and confirm. Thank you,
I think I messed it up. I typed in a password XXXXX rebooted and now I can't access the internet again. I keep typing in the password XXXXX I wrote and it won't accept it. How do I get back?
If you have two ethernet cables connected from modem to router and computer to router, then Internet should work. Otherwise, please reset the router again and check/try my previous suggestion again as needed. Thank you.
Thank you very much. I think I got it now. I now need to try to get my printer syncd to my laptop since printing was done by wifi also.
Great. You're welcome. If you have any further question, please let me know. Also, please rate my service. Thank you.
