My partner set up my Kindle and i do not have the wifi name and password
Computer OS: Windows 7
Various combinations of password
Hello,My name is XXXX XXX I will be helping you today.
Is it your wifi connection or your partner's?
It is mine
Can you tell me the model of your wireless router?
There should also be a specific model number on it. Can you tell me what that is?
Try clicking this link to bring up the setup for your router.
If it asks for a username/password, use admin/password .
No response when clicking on "this link"
Does it try to open, or nothing happens at all?
Nothing at all
Try this one: http://192.168.0.1
OK Mark i got through to that but have several choices
That's a great sign and means we won't need to reset your router. Please standby while I get the specifics.
Okay, click on the Wireless tab and then Primary Network
Can you tell me which setting is enabled on the right? WEP, WPA, etc.
You'll have to help me there Mark Where about will I find wireless tab and primary network
Both of those are enabled or only one?
Cannot see either on my Kindle but wireless is enabled
That is fine so far.
Go ahead and disable WEP and make sure only WPA is enabled.
Where will I find WEP & WPA
After you log in to the link I sent you, there is a row of tabs on top.
Click on the Wireless tab.
Then, on the left hand side, click on Primary Network.
After I logged onto that link there was just an array of addresses (similar to google)
Sorry abut delay there but we had some sort of problem with power but all seems OK now
Not a problem.
Can you take a screenshot and post it here?
Press the PrintScreen (PRNTSCR) key on your keyboard and right-click/paste the results here.
Good afternoon Mark. Judi here to try again
Can you tell me how it went?
Good morning Mark
As we are in such a bad area for wireless working I have decided to download from comuter and transfer to my Kindle. Thank you for your help and I will rate your help. It may help to know that for an inexperienced operator terms like WPA WEP etc are not much help. Have a good weekend
I have tried to give you a rating but cannot. I would rate your service as good.
