Customer Question

I have a Cisco SE 2800 router. I have connected this router to my modem, and it only allows one computer to access the Internet. I would like to try and reset the router back to factory default. Can you explain to me how to do this, this is an eight port router.

Optional Information:
Computer OS: Windows 7
Browser: Mozilla

I have tried everything I could think of, to include having Comcast come out and check the system. For them to proceed I would have to have a network process done costing $150. VE 2800 was purchase yesterday from Office Depot at a price just below $60. I have the receipt if you wish for me to fax that to you showing the purchase and today.

Hi and thanks for choosing Just Answer. My name is XXXX XXX I will be happy to assist you.

Unfortunately you have purchased the incorrect product. The SE2800 is actually a switch, not a router. The Comcast modem will only let one computer in at a time, and since the switch doesn't actually do any routing only one computer is allowed online through the SE2800 as well.

You will need to return that product and instead purchase an actual router like the E1500, the E2500, or the E4200. Any of these routers will do what you are looking for (allow more than one computer on the Internet).

I hope this clarifies the situation, but please let me know if you need clarification by clicking the Reply to Expert or Continue Conversation button. Otherwise please take a moment to rate my service today be clicking on the appropriate smiley face. Thank you so much and sorry for the bad news!
