I dont see a forget network
ok, it will only do this when in range, or if it has half connected int he past.If you don't see it after selecting your network from the Wifi List on the phone, then please proceed with the reset procedure.Let me know please the results of this
I tried that before and it doesnt work
Thanks, XXXXX XXXXX to run through the process in case you hadn't yet.Can you tell me the type of security you used? eg: WEP, WPA2And if we have a windows 7 or Vista computer already connected to the wireless?Thank You
I am not sure if using WEP or WPA2.
This computer is wired to the router but another one is wireless
ok, if you are using Wep, this can be the problem. But first, I just want to double check that we have the correct password. On the computer that is connected to the Wireless, can you click Start (windows logo button bottom left)Type in the search box Wireless Networks and press enter on the keyboard.Right click on your network that is in the list and select properties.Click on SecurityPut a check in the check box Show CharactersThis will display the Network Security KeyCan you make sure please, this is the text you are entering on the iPhone. Capitals need to be entered as Capitals. If you have confirmed it is the correct password, please let me know.
Ok
give me a few minutes. If I enter incorrect password XXXXX iphone it says it is invalid
ok, if you confirm it is indeed the correct password, can you tell me the exact message it gives please?
Unable to join the network "dlink" there is a Dlink2 WPA2 and a Dlink unsecured that shows.
Is there any way I could have excluded other devices when I reset it
No, that wouldnt have caused it.But you need to be connecting to the WPA2 one. This is the correct network. What happens when you connect to that one?
How do I do that when it only shows Dlink and a neighbors secure network
Sorry I wasn't aware when you listed this as a network that is was a neighbors. What we need to do is set the wireless up securely. This is why you are getting all these problems. I will list out the steps to do this, please follow them carefully Bob, and if you get stuck, let me know please as id we get one of the steps wrong, it wont work.Make sure you are on a computer that is connecting to the DLink (either via wireless or cable)Open your web browser (eg: Internet Explorer) and type http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar, then hit "Enter" or "Return."Use "Admin" as the username and leave the password XXXXX when the login screen appears.Click "OK." You should now see the D-Link configuration screen. Set Up General SecurityUnder the "Home" tab, choose "Wireless" and select the "Off" option. Enable Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP)Locate the "Home" tab in the D-Link Configuration screen, and click on the "Wireless" button.Use the "Open System" button beside "Authentication."Select the "Enabled" button next to "WEP," and set the encryption key to "128 bit."Set the "Key Type" to "ASCII" and choose a 13-character password XXXXX the "Key 1" field.Write down the password XXXXX a secure location.Click "Apply." Change the SSIDChange the SSID to make it more difficult for others to locate and use your network by clicking on the "Home" tab and locating the "Wireless" button.Change the default SSID to one of your choosing, then click "Apply."Disable SSID broadcasting. Under the "Advanced" tab, click on "Performance" and check off the "Disabled" box. Again, click "Apply." You will then need to reconnect all your computers to the new secured network you just created. This is also the case for the iPhone. The name of the network is the name you gave for the SSID and the password XXXXX XXXXX 13 character password XXXXX gave.If you have any problems with any of the steps Bob, please let me know before Rating Me.
Before I do this.
Dlink is my wireless network. What I meant to say is that I also see a secure neighbors network
Thanks Bob, I got that from your last comment, but good to confirm.Let me know how you go with my instructions please.
I will do them now
Thanks Bob,I am standing by
It wants a password
Where in my steps is it asking for the password XXXXX?
In the first step where Admin is pui in.
However I reset both the modem and router again and now reset my ipone and it now works. For a moment I got worried when niether computer would connect to internet. Thats when I did the rests.
