Hi and thanks for choosing Just Answer. My name is XXXXX XXXXX X will be happy to assist you.

How are you connected to the Internet right now? Are you plugged directly into your Internet modem? Can you tell me who your Internet provide is?

Customer replied 283 days and 19 hours ago.

Yes, I'm plugged directly into the modem. Centrylink is my Internet provider

OK usually with Centurylink this is a pretty straightforward process. Can you do the following for me so I can get some info about your connection? Thanks!

  1. Hold down the Windows key on your keyboard and press R to bring up the Run window.
  2. Type cmd and click OK.
  3. Type ipconfig /all and hit the Enter key.
  4. Right click anywhere on the data and choose Select All.
  5. Hit the Enter key to copy all of the data.
  6. Paste the data into your reply to me. If you are having trouble pasting, please just let me know what is listed for the IP address and the Default Gateway.

And you are hooked directly to your Centurylink modem right now? Or do you have your computer connected to the Belkin with a wire?

Customer replied 283 days and 19 hours ago.

I'm talking to you connected directly to the centrylink modem. I ran the ipconfig all on a computer connected to the Belkin with a wire. Do you need the ipconfig all on this machine as well?

Yes I am sorry; the Century link is the one I needed. I apologize I didn't clarify.

Ah I see the problem now. The Belkin and Centurylink are configured to both use the 192.168.2.x network scheme. Because of this we need to change the setup on the Belkin so that is uses a different scheme. Here's how:

  1. On the computer connected to the Belkin, open an internet browser and go to http://192.168.2.254.
  2. Click the Login link in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
  3. Click Submit (just leave the password XXXXX).
  4. Once logged in, click LAN Settings on the left.
  5. Change the IP address from 192.168.2.254 to 192.168.3.254.
  6. Click Apply Changes.

After doing that, reconnect your Belkin to the Centurylink modem. You should now be able to access the internet (you may need to cut the power the Belkin for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in to get Internet). Let me know!

Customer replied 283 days and 19 hours ago.

Wow. That seems to have worked. I thought I had tried that already, but when I did, I could no longer get back to the router and had to reset it again. But, when in doubt, try it again I guess? Anyway thanks.
