TechGrant :

Was this laptop already on the domain? Was the OS reinstalled?

Customer :

Yes it was on the domain before. OS wasn't reinstalled

TechGrant :

Ok did your try the NETWORK ID button or is it greyed out as well?

TechGrant :

it is above the change button

Customer :

Both buttons grayed and I logged in as machine administrator

TechGrant :

ok, might now what the issue is. Is this computer trying to connect to the domain WIRED or WIRELESS?

TechGrant :

You still there?

Customer :

It is connected to LAN via network cable. I can log in with domain user ID and password (at least it looks like) but I can't get into Microsoft Windows Network or my mapped drives. When I try to do that I get message "Unable to browse the network. The network is not present or not started." Also when I try to add another domain user I can find him in Active Directory but after I select the role it tells me there is no trust relationship. This why I trying to rejoin into domain

TechGrant :

ok, click START then click RUN then type ncpa.cpl then hit enter

TechGrant :

let me know when you are there

Customer :

Ok I'm there

TechGrant :

Ok now RIGHT CLICK on the local area connection teh goto Properties

Customer :

done

TechGrant :

in teh General Tab do you see "Client For Microsoft networks"?

Customer :

yes

TechGrant :

Is it checked?

Customer :

no

TechGrant :

Ok CHECK that box

Customer :

done

TechGrant :

then hit OK

Customer :

done

TechGrant :

Did it ask to reboot?

Customer :

no

TechGrant :

are you on that laptop talking with me now or on another machine

Customer :

On another machine

TechGrant :

ok, reboot taht laptop for me please

TechGrant :

once it is rebooted LOG into the computer on the DOMAIN account and see if the problem is fixed dont try to RE-ADD it to the domain yet

TechGrant :

because that more than likely fixed the trust relationship and mapped drives

Customer :

OK I'm doing it rightnow

TechGrant :

sounds good, let me know!

Customer :

I still have same issue

TechGrant :

ok, log out of the domain and log into the local admin account and see if the CHANGE is greyed out

Customer :

I'm already did. Both buttons still grayed out

TechGrant :

Ok can you go back to the connection properties and tell me if the Client For Microsoft Networks is still check

Customer :

It still checked checked

TechGrant :

ok good, now try this click Start then click RUN then type services.msc

TechGrant :

then the services on the right hand side will be listed. scroll all the way to the bottom do you see the WORKSTATION SERVICE?

Customer :

yes it is automatic but not started

TechGrant :

ok that needs to be started for sure

Customer :

when I tried to start it gives me error code 2250

TechGrant :

ok I think something is corrupt in the microsoft client services

TechGrant :

One second

TechGrant :

follow this please

TechGrant :

we are going to remove 3 things then reboot then re add them

Customer :

OK I ready

TechGrant :

So Start->Settings->Control Panel->Network Connections->Local Area Connection Properties->Client for Microsoft Networks->Uninstall .

Then "File and printer Sharing for Microsoft Network" and "Network Monitor Driver" uninstall.

Then reboot

After Reboot: Start->Settings->Control Panel->Network Connections->Local Area Connection Properties->Install->Client->Add->Client for Microsoft Networks, and Install->Service->Add->"Printer Sharing for Microsoft Network" and Install->Protocol->Add-> "Network Monitor Driver" .

Customer :

I'm still rebooting it just hold

TechGrant :

Your fine

Customer :

OK I'm done with your directions

TechGrant :

Once things are installed check to see if it is greyed out you might need to reboot one more time to refresh things

Customer :

It did fix it. Thank you!

TechGrant :

ok perfect, please hit ACCEPT, postive feedback and BONUSES are greatly apprecited, thanks!

Customer :

It seems like after I did everything computer doesn't shut down. what could cause of that

TechGrant :

That laptop seems little unstable with those services going bad, honestly if it keeps acting up I would recommend a Format and Reinstall on it the refresh all teh services

Customer :

I'll try to do it in future. Thank for your help again!

TechGrant :

Your welcome, thanks for your time and again please ACCEPT this as the answer, postive feedback and bonuses are appreacitaed. thanks
