I cannot access my local wireless network with my macbook pro

I cannot access my local wireless network with my macbook pro thru my linksys router

rebooting both computer and linksys router

Do you receive an error message? and if so what is the error message please?

Customer :

No. It says unable to join airport network

RichieMe :

ok, we need to hard reset the Linksys

RichieMe :

This will wipe the settings, but we can recreate the together

RichieMe :

first, are you connected via cable to the Linksys?

Customer :

Yes

RichieMe :

ok, on the back of the linksys is a small reset button

RichieMe :

can you push this in for 20 seconds

RichieMe :

then release

RichieMe :

youll lose internet for about 5 minutes, but it will come back

RichieMe :

please tell me when you have done this please

will I get you back even after we lose internet?

yes, just leave this page open

and add it to your bookmarks in case

ok, i will add it to bookmarks and i will reset

i reset, should i follow commands on my macbook?

go to http://192.168.1.1

do you wsee a login screen?

to join linksys?

no, just go to that address please

i get to a window that asks for a password XXX the wireless security

RichieMe :

ok, enter admin as the password

RichieMe :

then log in

RichieMe :

tell me when you do please

next question is do I use DHCP or PPPoE?

RichieMe :

DHCP

Customer :

ok. It says to restart the device. Then to click continue on my screen

Customer :

should i unplug and plug in the router?

yes please

ok

Customer :

now it says network diagnostics cannot fix the current networking problems.

It says to check with internet service provider make sure using the correct network settings

how are you getting internet at the moment?

Customer :

thru cable to my desktop

ok, what is giving the above error you mentioned?

RichieMe :

the macbook?

Customer :

the screen on the macbook

RichieMe :

ok, can you connect to the wireless again please

RichieMe :

on the macbook

that is the problem. no I cannot connect to the wireless with my macbook

yes, but after the reset it should now work

did you make a new wireless network on the Linksys after reseting it?

ok let me try

It looks like it worked. Is there something to this reset - what caused it, how to keep it from occuring again?

the linksys gets corrupted sometimes

RichieMe :

rare but it happens

RichieMe :
