I have tried re-entering my own choice network in System preferences many times, and it works for awhile...then all of a sudden Belkin jumps back in and I have to go back and reset my network choice all over again.
Hello and welcome to JustAnswer. I look forward to assisting you today with your question and providing the best answer possible.
You must have the belkin network listed in your preferred wireless networks. Please follow these steps to remove that network.
Click on the apple icon at the top, then choose system preferences.
In system preferences, click on the network icon.
Select airport from the list on the left.
Click the button, turn airport off, then click on the advanced button.
Under the Airport tab, there will be a list titled Preferred Networks listing the network name and security type
Select the Belkin network by pressing and holding the Command (key with the Apple logo on it) while clicking on the Belkin network listed
Once you've selected the networks, press the Minus button below the list. Then click the OK button
Click the Apply button and then click button Turn Airport On
Let me know if this doesn't resolve your issue. Thank you.

The answer seems logical and I have done it. But it will be a while before I know if this has actually worked, since the network jumping in happens off and on unpredictably. I will accept the answer once I feel really free of Belkin. Thanks, Jill
OK, let me know if it happens again. Otherwise, please remember to accept my answer and thank you for using justanswer.com!
