Customer Question

I reset my Cisco router Linksys E4200 with the button on the back. I was attempting to get my wireless HP printer to find router. It did. But, after reset we lost the Network name "Holland" and old passcode did not access. The Network name changed to "Cisco_WPS_30828". How do I recover passcode or reset the Network name?

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer. I look forward to assisting you today with your question and providing the best answer possible.

Please open the Cisco connect program, if available , on any computer (usually on the Desktop or from Start, All programs), and see if you can get/change the wireless network name (SSID) and password/key.
If you don't have the cisco connect program installed, you can use your router software cd disk to install.

If that does not work, please go to the website http://192.168.1.1/ and login with the username blank (don't type anything) and the password as admin
(if you cannot login, enter admin for the user name also).
Then click on the Wireless option to change the wireless network name (SSID), then save.
Then click on the Wireless option, then the Manual option if available, then the Wireless Security option, to get/change the password / security key.

Please let me know if there is still any issue. Thank you.

I don't have the Cisco Program, and the Website you gave me would not connect?
Expert:  Viet - Network Tech replied 5 years ago.
What happens when you click on the website http://192.168.1.1/?

Can you click on Start, and type cmd and press Enter. Then type ipconfig and press Enter, then tell me the Default gateway?

Can you download and install the cisco connect software setup program at
http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/linksys/E4200/download

Please let me know later. Thank you.

192.168.0.18, I should be able to download.
Expert:  Viet - Network Tech replied 5 years ago.
That's the default gateway, not IP address right?

Can you go to the website http://192.168.0.18 ? Thanks.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

sorry, 192.168.0.1

Expert:  Viet - Network Tech replied 5 years ago.
Can you try the website http://192.168.0.1 , and continue my previous suggestions to log in (try my username/password; if it does not work, try any password you know) and continue?

If it does not work, can you download and install the cisco connect program and run it to re-set up the router?

Thank you.

came up using the default, but would not accept "admin". Said Unauthorized 4? I'll work on downloading disc or software.

I still can't connect with router?
Expert:  Viet - Network Tech replied 5 years ago.
Please reset the router again with the following steps: make sure the router has power, then use a paper clip to press & hold the tiny reset hole/button located on the back/bottom of the router for 10 seconds. Then wait a few minutes, then try to connect the router again (try both websites http://192.168.1.1/ and http://192.168.0.1 as needed; enter admin for both the username and password.)

If needed, download and install the cisco connect program:
http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/linksys/E4200/download

Thank you.
