Do you know if this thinkpad T30 have built-in wireless hardware/adapter?
Only select models of the Thinkpad T30 have wireless:http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-42218
Can you right-click on MyComputer, then click on Manage, then click on Device manager, then open/expand Network adapters, then let me know the item(s) under it? Also, let me know if there is any problem/yellow item in Device Manager.
Well, I don't know and I just asked my 11 yr old son if he remembers & he says he always used an ethernet cable.
You can check by doing this: right-click on My Computer, then click on Manage, then click on Device manager, then open/expand Network adapters, then let me know the item(s) under it. Also, let me know if there is any problem/yellow item in Device Manager.
Ist item.. High Rate LAN Mini-PCI adapter with Modem II
2nd item... Intel (R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection
only two items listed below "Network Adaptors"
Do you see a wireless switch located on the laptop (could be in the front side or left/right side).
No, I have looked and even on the user manual I downloaded I could not find it. That is why I thought maybe it was the Function buttons or combo of.
Have you tried: press at the same time the two keys Fn and the wireless icon key (which is located at one of the function keys from F1 to F12) to turn on/off the wireless?
Now that you ask that I do not see any WiFi icon on this laptop.
it's on on any key from F1, F2, F3, ...., F12?
No, it is not there.
I'm checking for the manual
You said you checked the manual, did it tell you how to turn on/off the wireless?
I could never find anything about the WiFi at all.
What happens when you click on the wireless icon at the bottom right of the thinkpad t30 laptop's screen?
I have the manual on my other laptop so I can still search if you want me to look again.
The message always is ... no wireless found
nothing is found when I refresh either
You do see a wireless icon right?
Does the other two laptops see your neighbor's wireless also?
I just changed from Comcast to CenturyLink. We always used ethernet cables until now.
I just checked that this model does not have a wireless switch and there is no Fn/wireless option
When I go to Network Connections window it does show both types.
Yes, I believe the antenna cable is either loose inside the laptop or is bad
OK, then I guess I can buy an adapter card, right?
*the wireless antenna cable
OH!! That is very possible, remember my son is only 11. Very Internet savvy but is very rough with his belongings.
, there is an easy way to get wireless on the thinkpad
You can install/connect a USB wireless adapter to the thinkpad laptop, then you will get wireless
It's about $20 from your local computer store or online.
I know exactly what you describe. I had it on another laptop that was stolen.
Yup, that is familiar.
Sorry about the wireless hardware issue
That's OK, I just spoke with my son about being more aware of how he treats electronics and in general everything.
How much is the service fee?

Do you have any other computer question/issue?
I just found the sales receipt for the ThinkPad and it has it listed as 802.11G WiFi
Yes, I know it has wireless as it has two adapters (one is wireless and one is wired)
, but unfortunately the wireless antenna is bad
No, I just would like to tell you I found you thru the www.compukiss.com website. Thanks for the help.
Actually, not all Thinkpad T30 models have wireless adapters installed. OK, thanks.
